Mainstream media admits to racial bias

After all the evidence, presented here and elsewhere, of media bias, it is refreshing to see the MSM finally admitting as much.  Unfortunately, they got confused and accused themselves of having a pro-white bias.  A black teenage girl is missing and MSNBC writes:

Media criticized on response to case of missing N.C. teen

Story not getting much play because she’s black? Mother pleads for help…

…Her disappearance has been reported in local media, NBC’s TODAY show and CNN. But a Baltimore police official told NBC News that had the missing person been white, the case might have received even more media attention, perhaps aiding investigators in finding a suspect.
“I think the question has to be asked. It’s not my position, I don’t know what goes into these decisions, but this is Baltimore’s Natalee Holloway case,” said Anthony Guglielmi, spokesman for the Baltimore Police Department. Holloway, then 18, disappeared in 2005 while on a high school graduation trip to Aruba. Her remains have never been found…

The fact that seems to escape MSNMC is that the vast majority of missing white girls also do not get much media attention beyond their image on a milk carton.  The children of the wealthy, or those who disappear under unusual circumstances (i.e. not in a big, crime-ridden, city) tend to get the attention.  To suggest that the MSM is somehow “pro-white” reveals a gross disconnect from reality.  At least a few of the comments called them on this folly.

  1. countenance says:

My guess is that most black girls who go “missing” under these circumstances aren’t really “missing” in the classic sense of the word — They’re up to no good.

  2. Most missing children cases are within the family, e.g. a parent, stepparent or relative kidnaps the child.
