I’ve always thought it would be interesting to travel to Detroit and document the destruction of that city – as many others have done before me. But, for various reasons, I find it much more convenient to simply use Google Earth for my tour. Here are four images I captured from Google Earth, showing the decay of that once great city. Feel free to add your own.

Buy Your Coffee From These Patriots
Did you try to add steet view? Maybe you can find a link to street view?
I wish there were “before” and “after” photos.
Can you interpret the photos? Would be good to have someone at location to explain better what is happening.
Are these burned down buildings? Razed?
Let me play Devil’s advocate.
Is this the white establishment having failed with planning car production, so the mostly black underclass is out of work, suffering, and thus creating trouble?
I’d have to go there to get details – and I probably can’t afford the special life insurance required for those who travel to such war zones.
As for the failed economy and blacks, it’s probably a vicious cycle. Blacks, like many others, are not on their best behavior when they’re out of work. Their bad behavior prevents businesses from locating in black areas. So this situation perpetuates itself.
I lived nearby, it’s perfectly safe during daytime…but like in Mexico, you may be pushing your luck wandering around after dark, but that can be said of a whole lot of places outside the USA…
The decline was not caused by negroes per se(Buffalo, NY is in the same decline and it’s mostly white but being very discreet about its misfortune)
It was caused by the incredible corruption of it’s politicians and labor unions coupled by the export of all manufacturing jobs, especially automotive by all business leaders…like leading sellers of GM being actually made in Japan by Toyota…as if it was not cheaper to produce locally.
I remember somebody comparing a picture of Hiroshima in 1945, after getting bombed, with a picture of Hiroshima today, which is now a thriving, orderly city, and then comparing a picture of Detroit in 1945 and Detroit today. Conclusion: it’s better to be hit by an atom bomb than by diversity.
I remember when Detroit was a city.
Sigh…
