They Were Silent When Jared Taylor got Banned from Twitter

In 2017, Twitter removed Jared Taylor’s account, along with that of American Renaissance. Taylor sued Twitter in 2018, and Breitbart published a balanced article on the issue, pointing out Twitter’s sordid history of silencing conservative voices.

To the best of my knowledge, Fox News was silent about the matter. American Thinker published an excellent article about Big Tech’s censorship of conservatives. This was in early 2019, as the lawsuit was in full swing; it wasn’t finished until the end of 2019 – and yet no mention was made of it in the article, even though it did bring up the SPLC’s campaign of hate against Mr. Taylor.

When Twitter banned Mr. Taylor, there were no protests, there was no outcry from the conservative networks, and it goes without saying that there were no riots. Except in white-nationalist circles, the entire affair transpired almost without notice. Most news accounts were from the Left.

Now that Donald Trump, who doesn’t even reach Mr. Taylor’s ankles when it comes to civility, courage, knowledge or virtue, has also been banned from Twitter, it’s a different story altogether. We might think it’s the end of the world as we know it… and we’re all familiar with the hackneyed saying:

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out— because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Ironically, it’s now the socialists/communists who are coming for us. Of course I’m happy that Twitter has banned Trump. I’m happy because so many people who were silent when it happened to us now get a taste of censorship themselves. Yes, I’ll admit to a bit of schadenfreude…

But only a bit. Mostly, I’m happy that this is going to drive millions of people to platforms such as Parler and Gab… and herein lies another irony: Many of those people will become radicalized. Yes, we do have dangerous extremists in our midst; it’s not only a leftist thing.

Richard Spencer has a Parler account. I wouldn’t call him an “extremists,” but he’s a bit out there. On the few occasions that I met him, he was cordial to me. We even had lunch together after one of the Amren conferences, along with Sam Dixon – who is certainly not an extremist.

David Duke has a Parler account. He’s definitely borderline extremist. Stormfront has a Parler account, and there are a few accounts that include the name “Vanguard.” I don’t know if any of them are affiliated with the neo-Nazi group by that name.

My point is that the millions of newcomers will be exposed to ideas and ideologies that they may not have encountered before. Most will react maturely. Some will not. Some extremist groups will see an uptick in membership. It’s a price we must pay for freedom of speech. Those accounts should remain active, and the wider public should be encouraged to engage with them.

The end result of the leftist crackdown on “extremism” will lead to more extremism, and people will die because of it. I have no doubt about that. On a positive note, it will also lead to many new white-advocates who want nothing more than self-determination, human-rights and the survival of their own race and culture.

Our enemies on the Left have a tradition: Never leave non-leftists alone. Even if the conservatives live on a remote island, thousands of miles from civilization, the leftists will pursue them even there. How much more so when there are 70 million conservatives sharing a country with them. They will do everything they can to shut down our forums and social media sites. Many leftists will join Parler just to harass us there and troll us.

Parler will need to step up its moderation in order to keep the site functional, and ensure a pleasant experience for the rest of us. Hopefully, there will be forums where the two sides can discuss things civilly if they want to. This is important because even leftists are sometimes right.

In any event, we’ll have interesting times ahead.

Really? I used to invest in several funds with Vanguard, and found their service to be excellent.

But you are right about never leaving non-leftists alone. On Friday the WaPo published a gleeful article about intenet snitches getting several participants in the Wednesday rally fired from their jobs. The adventures of Parler through the weekend were even topped by CNN’s effort to get cable providers to drop Fox News. That’s like Pepsi asking the government to shut Coke down.

I refer once again to my edited comment several months ago.

Parler is off-line today, and is suing Amazon for breach of contract, which called for 30 days notice if they were to be terminated by Amazon’s hosting service.

Actually, antitrust and RICO actions are really what are required.
