Libraries Eliminate Late Fees

I just got this notification from Washington County Public Libraries:

Washington County libraries have (hooray, hooray) eliminated overdue fines. We will no longer charge for overdue materials, and if you had overdue fines, they have been removed from your account.

We have made this change because WCCLS libraries are for everyone – our libraries’ mission is to serve all residents of Washington County – equally, affordably and with easy access. Studies have shown that overdue fines most severely impact communities of color and/or with lower incomes, and don’t significantly promote the timely return of library materials.

So, this change was an easy, logical, happy choice for our libraries. 

The included link takes us to Urban libraries.org, a Social Justice group that focuses on the narrative of official victimhood. A glance at its executive board shows how progressive they are; only three of its 15 executives are white males – and those three are all senior citizens. Needless to say, all 15 of them are prominent in government or the corporate world.

Following the source link from Urban Libraries takes us to the Chicago Office of Mayor official website. Oddly enough, even though the Chicago site is cited as the source that such fines “most severely impact communities of color… ,” there is actually no mention of “communities/people of color” on that website. It speaks of “working poor, children and marginalized populations.” Apparently, to Urban Libraries, it goes without saying that healthy, heterosexual, white people cannot be marginalized.

The arguments for eliminating late fees might make sense, but their concern for “communities of color,” rather than “poor people” constitutes yet one more nudge toward the racial caste system our rulers have planned for us. That is to say, they’re conditioning us to equate “communities of color” (IE. non-whites) with “marginalized communities” (IE. poor people). It’s Biden’s “Poor kids are as bright as white kids” gaffe, but a bit more subtle.

Of course, Biden was anything but subtle when he announced that:

“Our priority will be Black, Latino, Asian, and Native American owned small businesses, women-owned businesses, and finally having equal access to resources needed to reopen and rebuild.”

It should be obvious that his previous “gaffe” was actually a Freudian Slip… a Freudian Slip that sets the tone for local governments and quasi-governmental agencies all over the country.
