An Abandoned Beach Resort

Ruins can be fascinating, because they stimulate us to imagine what once was, or what could have been. In this case, it’s more the latter, because it looks like this resort was abandoned in mid-construction. Perhaps it was a victim of the 2008 recession:

    You should look at the ruins of the “Nevelle” hotel in the Catskills.
    It’s a preview of how the U.S. is going to look a few years from now.
    “How the mighty have fallen.”

    It’s the “Nevele”, and also applicable to a number of other bungalow colonies in the area.

    But the revival of the borscht belt is at hand. A couple of years ago we passed through on Route 55 near White Lake on Saturday AM and witnessed the legions of “frummies” (as my wife calls them) walking to shabbat services with their hundreds of kids in tow. Their numbers compensate for the prior decline and then some.

    And where is this beach resort in the pictures presented?
