Somebody sent me this video about the most diverse high school in Washington. While the costs of racial diversity are obvious, I was curious to see if the video would live up to its promise of explaining its benefits. Toward the end, we are told the following:
It’s something that no other school in the state of Washington is able to experience. Students are learning things about other cultures and other ways of life that they would not have in an all white school, or a predominantly white school, outside of a textbook. And that’s just invaluable.
This is what I wrote back:
The costs of ethnic diversity are enormous. As for the benefit, it’s
spelled out, in this video, as learning about other cultures and ways
of life. We used to do this by traveling, reading books and pen-pals.
“Diversity” is something that is always with us – but there is an
extremely strong push for racial diversity above all else. Whites are
an extremely diverse group, coming from countries such as Slovenia,
South Africa or Venezuela. But the man implied that an all-white
school is, by definition, not diverse. I don’t believe this was a slip
of the tongue on his part.
I’d like to see a costs versus benefits analysis of racial diversity.
Not the kind of diversity that happens naturally, but the kind that is
being imposed upon us by design. The kind that costs a lot of money to
pursue. The kind that every large company and corporation in the U.S.
is required, by law, to pursue. The kind that brings frenzied howls of
protest if anybody dares question it.
It’s important to be understanding and tolerant toward others, but
let’s not forget that it was the “overwhelmingly white” America of the
1960s that gave birth to the god of diversity before whom we must all
now bow.
I wanted my response to be measured. This is why I didn’t bring up the fact that racial diversity is, for the most part, only imposed upon white countries. I didn’t mention the violence that comes, sooner or later, with said diversity.
A nasty Supreme Court case (don’t know exactly which one, don’t care) established some precedent that diversity is an unmeasurable good virtue, just like patriotism or heroism, etc. They never looked at eigenvectors or covariables or matrix transformations or any kind of heavy duty mathematics. They just declared it by fiat, and then there was the darkness.
And I should add, that the eigenvectors and covariables and matrix transformations aren’t what matters here. It is the will of the people that matters. The failure of even managerial moneyball monkeying to discover the value of diversity is just icing on the cake.
The first block quote paragraph is merely saying that diversity is important because it’s diversity, i.e. they just defined diversity and nothing more. When you press a diversitarian to tell you why ODIOUS “Our Diversity Is OUr Strength,” that’s what they’ll usually do, engage in circular reasoning. If they give you substance, it’s almost always food and restaurants.

Yes, terrifically useful knowing about “other cultures and other ways of life” except not as useful as knowing how to do math, write a plain English sentence or understand your own culture, its history, and to whom it owes its virtues and weaknesses.
Anyway, this love of diversity can only destroy diversity and result in the melding of all of humanity into one conglomerate mongrel brown race.
I’ve nothing against brown, but I like the diversity of black, white, red, yellow and brown better. These human differences are the result of thousands of years of separate development, all to be destroyed in a couple of generations solely for the purpose, it seems, of confirming an idiot liberal elite in its sense of moral superiority.

We all have our preferences but you will not be able to stop people who want to mate from mating, particularly just because you might “like” looking at black and white or red and yellow more.

“We” didn’t use to do this. Only people with cultural curiosity and the financial means to explore that did.

Not in your typical American public school.

In the US it wouldn’t be diverse, not even religiously, for the most part.
Something I know plenty about being that I converted to a different religion while attending an American public school. I would have LOVED for various practitioners of world religions to be represented in my student body, or at least invited in to speak to Social Studies classrooms, but alas neither was meant to be.
As a lover of culture and philosophy who finds the evolution of varying religions around the word to be a fascinating subject, I personally would have preferred to have much, much more diversity in my schools while growing up.
