A grudging nod to HBD from mainstream media

I live in the Portland area – which is a very dangerous place to live.  For example, we have not only the famous Powell “City of Books”, which is the largest bookstore in the world, but we actually have two Powells.  One of them is fairly close to my house.  They are dangerous because every time I walk into one of them, I leave with less money than I had going in.  On my last visit, I left with a paperback called “What is Your Dangerous Idea?”  It is easy to see why I couldn’t resist.
“What is Your Dangerous Idea?” is a collection of about 120 short essays on ideas that might be considered “dangerous” to one extent or another written by many famous scientists and thinkers.  Some of those ideas are established scientific fact, others are flights of fancy.  I did not expect to find anything substantial on HBD because it was, after all, sitting on a table in plain view in a major bookstore.  HBD is a truly “dangerous idea”; it is well-supported and it threatens the very foundations of modern leftist faith.  Therefore, it should not be included in such a book, nor should it be found in such a prominent location in a major bookstore.
It so happens, however, that there is a chapter called “Groups of People May Differ Genetically in Their Average Talents and Temperaments” by Steven Pinker, who is also the writer of the introduction to the book (where he mentions the possibility that blacks have higher testosterone levels and Ashkenazi Jews have been selected for higher intelligence).
Pinker is very careful in how he words this (short) chapter.  Here is a portion of that chapter:

In March, developmental biologist Armand Leroi published an op-ed piece in the New York Times rebutting the conventional wisdom that race does not exist.  (The conventional wisdom is coming to be known as Lewontin’s fallacy:  that because most genes may be found in all human groups, the groups don’t differ at all.  But patterns of correlation among genes do differ between groups, and different clusters of correlated genes correspond well to the major races labeled by common sense.)
In June, the Times reported a forthcoming study by physicist Gregory Cochran, anthropologist Jason Hardy, and population geneticist Henry Harpending proposing that Ashkenazi Jews have been biologically selected for high intelligence and that their well-documented genetic diseases are a by-product of this evolutionary history.
In September, political scientist Charles Murray published an article in Commentary reiterating his arguments from The Bell Curve that average racial differences in intelligence are intractable and partly genetic.
Whether or not these hypotheses hold up (the evidence for gender differences is reasonably good, for ethnic and racial differences much less so), they are widely perceived to be dangerous….  Large swaths of the intellectual landscape have been reengineered to try to rule these hypotheses out a priori (race does not exist, intelligence does not exist, the mind is a blank slate inscribed by parents).  The underlying fear that reports of group differences will fuel bigotry is not, of course, groundless.

Readers of this blog should have already noticed the above deception, the implication that there is little evidence of racial differences.  Most likely, this deception is merely a way for Pinker to protect himself against charges of racism.  Nevertheless, it is far more honest than what we are used to seeing in the wider media.  The book was published in 2007.  I believe that it is a tool we can use to help break the taboo against HBD with our friends and family.  It can be gotten from Amazon for $4.00 including shipping (used).  It cost me a bit more; I paid for the ambiance of Powells.  The chapter on race is strategically located about 4 (short) chapters into the book.  Close enough to the beginning that even those who don’t finish reading books will probably get to it – but it is not the first chapter, so people won’t get the idea that this is just a sneaky way to get them to accept HBD.
As I read more of the book, I’ll probably share some of the more interesting ideas therein with the rest of y’all.

The Left's pygmy problem

Many of us have assumed that the relative media silence over the ongoing genocide of pygmies in Africa is due to a desire to avoid, whenever possible, depicting black Africans in a negative light.  While there is definitely some truth to this, there might be another, more sinister, motivation behind this neglect.
The leftist establishment assumes, as a matter of faith, that race is not a meaningful biological concept.  That racial differences are superficial.  Mathilda writes (in a comment):

And other world renowned geneticists and physical anthropoligists are behind race as a valid descriptive term. It’s about a 50-50 split. Look up Niell Risch.
http://216.239.59.104/search?q=cache:8YUaBabaYWIJ:genomebiology.com/2002/3/7/comment/2007+neil+risch+race+skin+deep&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=2&gl=uk
The pro-race ones aren’t as noisy though, as people like you automatically have a hissy if someone observes one of the many racial non-cosmetic differences between human poopulations. Such as…
Pregnancy duration.
http://www.newscientist.com/blog/shortsharpscience/2007/03/black-and-asian-babies-at-increased.html
Age of menopause
Height
Lung capacity
Life span
Muscle and bone density
To name but a few. If you don’t believe me, have a root through this blog. Pygmies hit the menopause at 24, I’d hardly call that ‘no difference’. They are geriatric in their fifties. They seem to age nearly twice as fast as average humans.
http://www.physorg.com/news117456722.html
We are 99% the same as each other (revised by Venter recently). Not the 99.9% the same you see touted about so often.
http://www.usatoday.com/news/health/2007-09-03-dna-differences_N.htm
This is a fair amount of differences, as we are 98.4% the same as a chimp, so a small amount of DNA can make a lot of difference. Contrary to what is commonly reported in thn Media, we are not ‘unusually closely related’ to each other compared to other mammals. We are fairly average.
BTW, the 4% variation in human only DNA that defines us as races… in other species the same amount can easily define a new species, let alone a sub species. Read up on Chichlid fishes.

National Geographic also has an article about the unusually early onset of menopause among the pygmies.  There has been some debate as to whether this is due to genetics or environment.  The fact that other African groups suffer equally from malnutrition and disease, but maintain more or less normal stature and menopause, argues in favor of a genetic explanation.
If the early onset of menopause among the pygmies is genetic, then this presents a serious problem for the “race is a social construct” crowd.  When we consider past conduct of the racial-egalitarian left, it is not hard to imagine them condoning the slaughter of the pygmies – since they represent an inconvenience to its dogma.  I wouldn’t be surprised if it turned out that leftist elites were actually paying black Africans to liquidate pygmy populations within their borders.  Josef Stalin would have been proud, and called it “a statistic” rather than “a tragedy”.
On a positive note, there is an organization dedicated to the survival of the pygmy:  The Pygmy Survival Alliance (based in Seattle, Washington).  One wonders how rare a given race must become before such an organization arises to help ensure its survival.  It is also worth bearing in mind that if whites ever reach the risk of extinction of the pygmies, neither Africans nor Asians will form organizations to assure its survival.

A kinder, more tolerant, Islam?

MSNBC has a story called “Battling for gay rights, in Allah’s name” where we read about a new form of Islam – I would call it “Reform Islam” – that renounces violence, strives for equality of the sexes and accepts homosexuality.  The co-founder of the movement, Ani Zonneveld, has taken a lot of heat from other Muslims for her liberal views.  In describing the roots of her activism, Zonneveld says:

… her activism grew out of frustration with other American Muslims for being either too willing to accept the word of conservative imams or unwilling to speak out.
“If there is a homophobic sermon at Friday prayer … nobody would stand up and say, ‘I’m sorry that’s an appalling sermon,’” said Zonneveld. “But I can’t sit with a community where it is acceptable to be homophobic …. How can you just let it slide?”
Muslims for Progressive Values is intended to provide a space to worship and a voice to Muslims who don’t necessarily agree with American Muslim leaders often seen as speaking for the entire flock.
Zonneveld, a lifelong Muslim, spent part of her childhood in Germany and Egypt, then attended college in Illinois. She became a professional singer and songwriter and now works with well-known artists, including include blues singer Keb’Mo and Melissa Manchester. Her husband is from Holland and their 13-year-old daughter goes to a public school.

Since I am not an expert on Islam, I can only wonder if her views can legitimately be called “Islam” or if they might better be described as some other religion.  I also wonder if she truly believes Islamic scripture or if she is simply using religion as a vehicle for a social movement.  Of course, even she may not know the real answer to that question.  Is this movement a natural development that goes hand in hand with the Christian Reformation and Reform Judaism – or is it being supported through our tax dollars by a government that is eager to mitigate the dangers of militant Islam?  Is it a positive development that can declaw a dangerous ideology, or will this kinder and gentler Islam lure more people into a faith that is the nemesis of Western civilization?  If this Reform Islam ends up being anything like Protestantism or Reform Judaism, it will simply give people more options in life while still being able to call themselves “Muslim”.  For the time being, it appears to be a fringe movement with only a few followers.
Frankly, I would think that Mrs. Zonneveld is in danger of having a fatwa declared on her.  She seems to be a brave woman.

Ethiopian beauty

The severe shortage of women in China has prompted many Chinese men to seek love elsewhere.  China already gets oil, copper and other natural resources from the Dark Continent – why not women as well?  There is, of course, a natural barrier to Chinese men marrying black African women:  The Attraction Gap.  East Asian men are among the least sought after males in the world and black African women among the least sought after females in the world – but not in the sense that they would tend to attract each other.   It would normally take extraordinary circumstances to bring them together.  But there is a solution:  Ethiopians. Ethiopians are heavily Caucasian/Semitic in origin.  This makes them more palatable to Chinese men.  A post on the blog Evo and proud reports:

In this, China is in the worst situation. On the one hand, it has the most unbalanced sex ratio in East Asia. On the other, its bachelors are poorly positioned in the international marriage market, since they earn much less money than do bachelors in South Korea, Taiwan, and Japan. Where can they go to find wives?
The most likely place seems to be sub-Saharan Africa, with Ethiopia being especially likely. With their relatively light skin and fine features, Ethiopian women seem to be the most attractive candidates. Chinese entrepreneurs are also well established in that country. This topic came up on an online thread about Chinese-Ethiopian marriages.  One Chinese commenter wrote:

In China the Ethiopian women is revered as a Holy God. Every day we say prayer that God will send us an Ethiopian woman for marriage so that our children are smart, beautiful, and clever like Ethiopia.

Indeed, the Caucasian element within Ethiopians gives some of their women a specific type of beauty that is entirely Ethiopian (but reminiscent of Indians in my opinion).

Ethiopians seem to be well aware of this element in their ancestry.  It is also reflected in their traditional art, for example:

Unfortunately, their 40% Eurasian ancestry doesn’t do much to bring up their average I.Q.; the higher I.Q.’s of Caucasians apparently evolved much later than the back-migration into Africa.  How would a racially conscious Chinese man deal with this fact?
Bojing:  I think I’m falling for you Makeda; you are the most beautiful woman I have ever met!
Makeda: I am so lucky to have met you Bojing.  You are so handsome!  Kiss me Bojing!!
Bojing: Here.  I brought you some flowers.
Makeda:  That is so sweet!  Bojing, please marry me and take me back with you to China!
Bojing:  There is this little matter of regression to the mean…
Realistically, he would be thinking of her other assets at that point – such as her cooking abilities.
Note: Having just visited Ethiopia myself, I made some changes to this post. I did not see any Chinese men with Ethiopian women while there. But I did shoot some photos of lovely Ethiopian women. Be sure to check out that post, and the others related to Ethiopia!

The Stark Truth does another interview with jewamongyou

The Stark Truth Radio network recently interviewed me again, this time specifically about the book I translated, “The Ashkenazi Revolution”.  Here’s the link:

Oregonian editorial almost gets it right

An editorial by Ross Douthat (Oregonian via New York Times Oct. 18th, 2011) comes much closer to the truth about “diversity” than we normally see in the MSM.  Speaking of the fate of Christian communities in the Middle East, Douthat explains the latest hardships in the context of an ongoing ethnic alignment along national borders, which has been going on for a long time.

Peace comes at a terrible price for diverse groups

… This is a familiar story in the Middle East, where any sort of popular sovereignty has tended to unleash the furies and drive minorities into exile.  From Lebanon to North Africa, the Arab world’s Christian enclaves have been shrinking steadily since decolonization…
More important, though, this is a familiar story for the modern world as a whole – a case of what National Review’s John Derbyshire calls “modernity versus diversity.”  For all the bright talk about multicultural mosaics, the age of globalization has also been an age of unprecedented religious and racial sorting – sometimes by choice, more often at gunpoint.  Indeed, the causes of democracy and international peace have often been intimately tied to ethnic cleansing:  Both have gained ground not in spite of mass migrations and mass murders, but because of them.
This is a point worth keeping in mind when reading the Big Idea book of the moment, Steven Pinker’s “Better Angels of Our Nature:  Why Violence Has Declined.”  Pinker marshals an impressive amount of data to demonstrate that human civilization has become steadily less violent, that the years since 1945 have been particularly pacific, and that contemporary Europe has achieved an unprecedented level of tranquility.
What Pinker glosses over, though, is the price that’s been paid for these advances.  With the partial exception of immigrant societies like the U.S., mass democracy seems to depend on ethno-religious solidarity in a way that older forms of government did not.  The most successful modern nation-states have often gained stability at the expense of diversity, driving out or even murdering their minorities on the road to peaceful coexistence with their neighbors.
Europe’s era of unexpected harmony, in particular, may have been made possible by the decades of expulsions and genocide that preceded it.  As Jerry Z. Muller pointed out in a 2008 essay for Foreign Affairs, the horrors of the two world wars effectively rationalized the Continent’s borders, replacing the old multi-ethnic states, and eliminating – often all too literally – minority populations and polyglot regions.  A decade of civil war and ethnic cleansing in the former Yugoslavia completed the process…
Along the same lines, the developing world’s worst outbreaks of ethno-religious violence… are often associated with transitions from dictatorships or monarchies to some sort of popular rule.  And from Kashmir to the West Bank, Kurdistan to Congo, the globe’s enduring trouble spots are usually places where ethno-religious communities and political borders can’t be made to line up.
Whether we root for this process to take its course depends on how we weigh the hope of a better future against the peoples who are likely to suffer, flee and disappear along the way.  Europe’s long peace is an extraordinary achievement – but was it worth the wars and genocides and forced migrations that made it possible?

In short, Douthat interprets the existence of many ethnic groups within the same borders as “diversity”, which he sees as a good thing.  He carefully avoids telling us why this “diversity” is a good thing – such that its loss should be called a “price”.  As a matter of fact, he has noticed the same patterns that Jared Taylor notes in his recent book, “White Identity“. But, while Taylor reaches the logical conclusion – that ethnic diversity is the source of conflict – Douthat tries to cling to his worship of diversity while, at the same time, admitting that millions have suffered and died because of it.
I would love to ask Douthat what his opinion is regarding the borders of Africa, which were drawn by European colonial powers – reportedly in order to throw diverse tribes together within the same nations.  According to Douthat, this would be a good thing – because it brought the Africans the blessing of “diversity”.  Or was it a good thing for Europe but not for Africa?
His assertion that the U.S. is an (partial) exception to the rule is, at best, premature.  Perhaps he is unaware of the countless Americans who have been murdered, robbed or raped as a consequence of diversity.  If so, then his ignorance is by choice; the information is readily available on the internet.  For those of us who do not choose ignorance, it is obvious that the U.S. is not an exception.  Fluoridated water and Big Macs cannot change human nature, nor can Congress legislate it away.  Americans will pay the bitter price of ethnic diversity just as have others.
I wonder if, decades from now, another columnist will ask if the Great Ethnic War of 2030, which killed millions and left Europe and America in ruins, was too great a price to pay for the relative tranquility that followed.  In the meantime, the diversicrats are frantically busy importing multitudes of foreigners and mixing up the borders even more – in order to set the stage for just such a war.  If Douthat is among them, then he weeps for the suffering that he, himself, encourages.
Ross Douthat appears to be a confused man – or perhaps he is trying to provide a hint, to his readers, that diversity is not all it’s cracked up to be.

The cult of childhood

The following are some preliminary thoughts of mine concerning the development of the cult of childhood in the West and its ramifications.
I recently came across the “To Catch a Predator” videos on YouTube and I must admit, they are very entertaining – in a sad sort of way.  I watched several of them and then I got to thinking:  There sure are a lot of these guys – and they certainly represent only the tip of the iceberg of men who would take advantage of an underage girl; most such men are smart enough (one would presume) to avoid getting caught in such a predicament.  Moreover, men who would take advantage of an underage girl are certainly only the tip of the iceberg of men who would have sex with the same girl if only it were socially acceptable to do so.  I would add that the very fact that underage girls are forbidden fruit probably makes them that much more alluring to some men.
Other bloggers, such as Human Stupidity and Robert Lindsay, have already pointed out that it is perfectly normal for men to be attracted to underage girls.  Prepubescent girls, on the other hand, are a different matter.  I am reasonably certain that the vast majority of men, if they found themselves stranded on an island with a well-developed 14 year old girl, would eventually break down and consummate this relationship.
Coincidentally, I’ve been reading “Selections from Protagoras, Republic, Phaedrus & Gorgias” by Plato.  At the very beginning we read:

Companion:  … I saw him the day before yesterday; and he had got a beard like a man – and he is a man, as I may tell you in your ear.  But I thought that he was still very charming.
Socrates:  What of his beard?  Are you not of Homer’s opinion, who says, ‘Youth is most charming when the beard first appears’?  And that is now the charm of Alcibiades.

We may, or may not, interpret the above as homoerotic or ephebophilic in nature.  Either way, it is well documented that both homosexuality and ephebophilia were widely practiced in Greece during that era.  As for the latter, it was certainly the norm in practically every society on Earth until very recently.  If Chris Hanson’s ancestors were held to his standards, he would never have been born.
Granted, there is a huge difference between a middle aged man seeking thrills by having sex with a 14 year old girl who he almost certainly has no intention (or possibility) of ever marrying, and a courtship whose main goal is marriage and the founding of a family.  The union between my own father and mother would be highly illegal today.  Even back then people murmured that my father must be some sort of pervert – and maybe he was – but they’ve been together for about 55 years now.  As a result, I sit hear and maintain this blog.
Like so many other things in life, it all comes back to unity versus “diversity”.  It used to be acceptable for 25 year old men to court 14 year old women (or whatever you want to call them) because there was an intact culture in place.  That culture demanded that they marry and start a family.  Marriage was a commitment to be taken seriously.  Today, there is no intact culture; only a mishmash of confusion held together by ever more numerous laws.  In this environment, there is no expectation of marriage/commitment.  Therefore, a middle-aged man having a fling with a 14 year old girl is most likely abusive.  Their “relationship” can be reduced to its rawest component:  Sex.  And it’s a shame because, in other circumstances, that man might have turned out to be a great husband and father – just like my own father.
The cult of childhood in the West, and its extension, has gradually reduced even adults to children.  An adult takes responsibility for his own actions and mistakes.  A child is rarely held accountable.  When a woman spills hot coffee in her lap and then sues the restaurant that sold her the coffee, is she truly a “woman”?  Perhaps it would be more accurate to describe her as a child.  Childhood has become so cherished and fortified that it has escaped its own boundaries and its tendrils reach out across what used to be “adulthood” all the way to the “second childhood”.
The Left, by and large, does not recognize the biological concept of race.  One of the reasons it rejects this concept is that there are no clear boundaries between one race and another.  This is, of course, a flawed argument but perhaps it is this same mentality that forces leftists (and conservatives) to insist on rigid age-of-consent laws.  After all, if there is no clear boundary between childhood and adulthood (and there isn’t) then neither concept has any validity according to them.  If so, there would be no basis for “statutory rape” laws.  Even leftists will admit that ages of consent are arbitrary but “we have to draw the line somewhere” they say.  I would agree that a line must be drawn in individual cases, but there can be no single line that makes sense for everybody – even within the same city or town.  We all mature at different rates* and we all have different family situations.  We also have different cultures (see “diversity” above).
*I remember visiting a family of Hassidim in Jerusalem who were good friends of mine.  One of their daughters was around 13 or 14 years old and her older sister mentioned that perhaps it is time for her to start dating.  The mother looked at her skinny frame and said, “No, she’s not ready yet; she needs more time” or something to that effect.

The Ruins of Detroit Google Earth style

I’ve always thought it would be interesting to travel to Detroit and document the destruction of that city – as many others have done before me.  But, for various reasons, I find it much more convenient to simply use Google Earth for my tour.  Here are four images I captured from Google Earth, showing the decay of that once great city.  Feel free to add your own.

The 2012 American Renaissance conference

It appears we are having a conference near Nashville this coming year.  So far, we do not know exactly when or where.   All we know is:

The conference will be at a beautiful, government-owned facility that is about a 45 minute drive from Nashville, TN. We have no fear of cancellation, and will be announcing the exact location soon.

If the conference is near an urban area, I plan on bringing a bunch of flyers and distributing them.  If it’s in a rural area, then it might not be a good idea to bring attention to ourselves.  If conditions do favor the distribution of flyers, then I shall do so whether others join me or not.  Here is your chance to suggest which flyers should be distributed.  I am inclined to use one that recounts our trials at the last Amren conference, as an illustration of how whites are discriminated against in this country.  The flyer would also point out the peacefulness of our gatherings and that our stance toward race is backed up by solid science.
