The Old Confederate Flag Canard

Conservatism Inc. strikes again, this time in the guise of Rich Lowry, writing for the National Review.

Of course, the proximate cause of the protests this time is the coronavirus lockdowns rather than Obamacare, although the feel of the demonstrations — expressing populist anger at government overreach — is the same, and so is the reaction of the critics.

The line of attack is the familiar one of using a few isolated idiots or kooks to tar the entire enterprise. To this end, if there’s one thing Democrats (and the media) want you to know about the anti-lockdown protest at the Michigan state capitol in Lansing last week, it’s that people were flying Confederate flags.

“What happened yesterday was inexcusable,” Representative Debbie Dingell (D., Mich.) said. “People did not have masks. They didn’t have gloves. They did not distance themselves. They had Confederate flags, swastikas.”

Governor Gretchen Whitmer scolded, “When people are flying the Confederate flag and untold numbers who gassed up on the way here or grabbed a bite on the way home — we know that this rally endangered people.”

The idea that they “had swastikas,” as Dingell said, is meant to mislead. A few protesters, in particular a widely photographed woman with a “Heil Witmer” (sic) sign, used swastikas to depict the governor as a fascist (obviously, a ridiculously over-the-top charge), not to identify themselves as Nazis.

You can watch long stretches of footage of the protests and see only a panorama of American flags…

Near the beginning, the Detroit Free Press video does show one Confederate flag, a man with the Stars-and-Bars emblazoned with a rifle and the words “come and get it.” That’s it. One idiot.

Lowry is right that the corporate media will pick out the most offensive symbol it can find, out of a sea of non-offensive symbols, in order to smear those it disapproves of. We’ve seen this many times in the past. The corporate media is far more circumspect when it comes to protesters from the left.

Incidentally, I predict that if the US economy is not restarted soon, there will be as many protesters from the left as there are from the right. Hunger and desperation trump all.

Was the man with a Confederate flag an idiot? I think it’s too harsh to judge him based on that. After all, I’ve been known to fly the Confederate flag – and NOBODY considers me an idiot!

But there’s a difference. I was flying the Confederate flag to make a specific point regarding freedom of speech and the Confederate flag. It was just after the anti-South hysteria that followed the Dylan Roof shooting. It bothered me that Southern heritage was under attack, and that our freedom of speech was also under attack. I felt I had to make a statement.

Perhaps, for the man in question, the Battle Flag symbolizes freedom – which is being taken away by our government, and this was his way of rebelling against such tyranny. I wouldn’t call him an idiot for that line of thinking.

Still, I think it’s important to compartmentalize our causes to the best of our ability. It would be wise to tailor our image, at any given event, as specifically as possible – assuming that our goal is to appeal to those on the fence.

For example, if we’re on the streets protesting against leftist violence, then we probably shouldn’t fly the Confederate flag at that event; it carries other baggage, and will only serve to alienate people from the primary message we’re trying to convey: Stop leftist violence.

If we’re protesting for a white homeland, it’s probably not a good idea to promote eugenics at the same time. It’s true that for many people eugenics is important – but this is not the appropriate time. Focus on the point you want to communicate, not on presenting a smorgasbord of causes – because doing so will only alienate potential allies.

I doubt that this is the reason Rich Lowry objected to the Confederate flag; He’s made it clear elsewhere that he finds it distasteful because…

The Confederate army fought for an odious cause.

This is a perfect example of Conservatism Inc. thinking, which is indistinguishable from leftist thinking. Perhaps this would be a good time to share an interview with a former Confederate soldier; he says he DID NOT fight for slavery (at 13:02), so who are we going to believe, the Confederate soldier, or Rich Lowry?

“Vulnerable” Latinos hit hard by Corona

With all the hoopla over blacks being disproportionately victimized by the CCPVirus, it was inevitable that Hispanics would also be so affected. Both populations suffer “disproportionately” from almost everything.

USA Today reports:

SAN FRANCISCO – In a city where 16% of the population is Latino, physician Alicia Fernandez is alarmed by the overwhelming number of Latino patients she is seeing at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital.

Fernandez blames the high cost of housing in the Bay Area, which finds many impoverished Latinos crowded into small apartments. “Sometimes it’s big families, but others it’s just a group of adults trying to make ends meet,” she says. “It makes it so hard to isolate and quarantine folks.”…

In New York, a grim tally tells the tale: Latinos make up 29% of the population but are 39% of those who have succumbed to COVID-19, the respiratory illness causes by the virus…

Latinos across the U.S. are ill-prepared for their battle against the coronavirus, a crisis that threatens to leave many in this already vulnerable population sick and destitute, according to a new report. Because of a combination of factors – including working in low-paying front-line jobs and a lack of savings and health insurance – Latinos are shouldering a disproportionate burden of the pandemic…

Various reports have shown African Americans make up a disproportionate percentage of COVID-19 deaths given the virus is particularly merciless to those with lung conditions, which plague black Americans in far greater numbers than white Americans. Black workers are also highly represented in the transportation and food supply sectors, which remain open.

First I’ll address the excerpt about blacks. “Black workers are also highly represented in the transportation (sector).”

Indeed they are. As a matter of fact, I’ve written about this before. Why are blacks so “highly represented” in the transportation sector? It’s because of Affirmative Action. If you read my linked post about Miami bus drivers, you may wonder if I ever did hear back from the Miami-Dade Transit Authority. They never got back to me. It seems obvious that the reason blacks dominate government jobs in big cities is black privilege. In other words, they demanded it, they had the political clout to get it, practiced nepotism to that end, and achieved dominance in such sectors – all with the blessings of the Corporate Media. And now that same media has the gall to cry INJUSTICE when those Affirmative Action jobs lead to higher rates of infection!

But back to Hispanics. If you read the USA Today article, you’ll notice that there is no mention of any link between the high infection rates among Latinos, and their voluntary behavior. A few posts ago, I quoted a Yahoo comment regarding this, which was made well before anybody reported on higher rates of infection among Latinos. I’ll quote it again:

In the neighborhood where I live social distancing is strictly enforced in all the stores and neighbors will call you out if they see you acting otherwise on the street. About the only people who really treat it seriously in the impoverished neighborhood are the asians, white people take more precautions then most but not as seriously as the asians, black folks are mostly indifferent and still congregating in groups and get close to you and each other, and the Hispanics ignore all the rules and show up with all their children some of them coughing all over the store and in your face and the parents let them do it without so much as a word of rebuke.

Here’s a photo I took today, where you can clearly see those “vulnerable” Latinos playing soccer at a park:

Rushton’s fall from grace

One difference between seekers-of-truth, and those who do not seek truth, is that seekers-of-truth do not worship flesh and blood. If you claim that Martin Luther King was immoral and dishonest, you will be shouted down, and possibly physically attacked. At best, you’ll be told that his accomplishments far outweigh his flaws, and that we should continue to revere him for this reason.

I, and many of my readers, like to count ourselves among seekers-of-truth. We don’t worship flesh and blood, and we don’t worship the late Phillipe Rushton. For many years, I admired him, and his book “Race, Evolution and Behavior” was among the first race-realist tomes that I read. I did meet Dr. Rushton once at an American Renaissance conference. He didn’t come across as overly friendly, but I felt honored to meet him.

A friend recently introduced me to Dr. Edward Dutton, AKA “The Jolly Heretic”, who has a presence both on YouTube and on Bitchute. Please take half an hour and watch this video:

https://youtu.be/7dL8XCuBNM4

Here is a link to Dr. Dutton’s book, “J. Phillipe Rushton: A Life History Perspective.” I have not read it, partly because I didn’t know about it until recently, and partly because I tend to value ideas over people, at least when it comes to reading books.

Dr. Dutton describes Rushton’s theories as “revolutionary,” but I think many people thought along those lines long before “Race, Evolution and Behavior” was published. The main gist of the theory is intuitive to open-minded people who have also experienced the real world.

Some of the video’s criticisms are observations that the Asian/white/black continuum of behavior doesn’t always hold up to scrutiny. For example, we find that Asians are LEAST likely to adopt (supposedly linked to altruism), blacks are LEAST likely to go bald (linked to testosterone levels) and oral sex is most popular among whites, not Asians (oral sex being, supposedly, linked to K-strategy reproduction). In all objections of this type, I’ll point out that we don’t live in that sort of linear world, where everything neatly fits into place along racial lines. Evolution/genetics doesn’t explain everything. History and culture also play a role. Race/genetics typically provides only a general tendency – a tendency that will be followed in the absence of other, countervailing, forces.

In my view, the most damning accusations in the video are those that illustrate Dr. Rushton’s dishonesty. The most disturbing of all are those where he lied when there was absolutely no reason to lie. Few would blame Dr. Rushton for not being descended from famous inventors, or for his grandparents’ indiscretions. To ignore Native Americans, and Aborigines, in favor of the more simplistic “3 races” model of humanity seems like laziness. If Native American behavior and test scores yield mixed results, a simple “needs more research” would be the correct reaction.

If Dr. Rushton really did have an affair with a married woman, or beat one of his wives, then he has lost my respect on both counts – but this wouldn’t detract from his scholarly research, even if his love-child is half black. I wouldn’t even call him a hypocrite for it, since he never presented himself as a reverend or a preacher. We can’t expect our scholars to be saints.

Rushton lived his life, and he is gone. I don’t mourn for him. I do mourn for the good research that he may have performed, or collected. Because of his (alleged) actions, ALL of his research is now in doubt – at least until it can be independently corroborated. Unfortunately for us, the political climate will not allow for research into racial cognitive/behavioral differences to be done. For the time being all we can do is sift through the research that has already been done, and try to salvage the wheat from the chaff.

I believe that it’s healthier for us to confront Dr. Rushton’s legacy, and naughtiness, head on, rather than wait for our enemies to use it against us.

Might is Right or The Survival of the Fittest

At the insistent nudging of my friend Diversity Chronicle, I read the book The Survival of the Fittest, or The Philosophy of Power  by Ragnar Redbeard. Here are some highlights, and my thoughts on them.

Pg. 11:

It is notorious, universally so, that the blackest falsehoods are ever decked out in the most brilliant and gorgeous regalia. Clearly, therefore it is the brave mans duty to regard all sacred things, all legal things, all constitutional things, all holy things, with more than usual suspicion.

This has been my opinion for many years. I couldn’t help but notice that certain groups (especially religious groups) will often compensate for lack of substance with flowery language, and aesthetically pleasing form. Simpletons, who comprise the bulk of humanity, are easily fooled.

Pg. 15:

However it must be distinctly understood, that the spiritual and temporal in all cosmogonies, are so intricately interwoven, that it is almost impossible to completely divorce them. Like the Siamese twins, Gods and Governments are inextricably bound together; so much so indeed, that if you kill one the other cannot live. Hence the open or secret alliance, that has always existed between the politician and the priest.

In Western democracies, as long as there are large voting blocks of religious people, this union cannot be avoided. In Islamic countries, this dynamic is even stronger. Whether consciously, or subconsciously, most people’s ideas of “right” and “wrong” flow from their religious traditions – though they’ll try to rationalize otherwise. “Right” and “wrong” are the bedrock of the Law. I’ve long said that, though religion is based on time-honored myths, it has yet to be proven that a society can survive, long-term, without it. When people abandon religion, they cease having enough children to perpetuate that society. At that point, other (more traditional) societies will swoop in and fill the void. In the process, the remnants of the religionless society will lose its liberties.

Pg. 26:

Practical fraternal sympathy (upon any universal scale) has always had in the end, a most destructive effect upon the internal structure of communities. Men will always love and cherish those that are near and dear to them; but when it is proposed to extend the circle of their ‘near and dear ones’ to all mankind, that is going rather too far. Indeed all must perish ignominiously if that foolish idea prevails. ‘All’ are even now enervating themselves, undermining their strength, by futile over-exertion in that very direction. They are straining themselves to death, by endeavoring to carry an impossible load.

How appropriate are these words of wisdom at a time when so many American politicians are forcing American taxpayers to support illegal immigrants by extending the CCPVirus stimulus packages to include them. If so, American citizenship has no meaning. If everybody is your family, then you have NO family.

Pg. 30:

‘He clothed the naked,’ you shriek; and why it may be asked should ‘the naked’ be clothed – they being able-bodied? What right have they to broadcloth and fine linen?…

Here, it may be suggested en-passant – is the wearing of garments, in itself, a natural and necessary condition of adult existence? It certainly does not render the ‘human form divine’ more healthy or more beautiful to gaze upon (although it may prevent Tenderlings from perishing of cold). Was it really intended that the man-animal ONLY, should wrap itself up, from birth to death in layer over layer of disease-breeding rags?

I thought it was interesting that Redbeard supports nudism. Personally, I have no objection to it either.

Pg. 36:

How absurd of men to hurrah over their ‘glorious political liberty’ who have not even been able to retain possession of the substantial products of their own laboriousness. After a century of ‘constitutional progress,’ ten per cent of the population are absolute owners of ninety-two per cent of ALL the property.

Here, Redbeard sounds a lot like Bernie Sanders. What solution would he suggest to bring more equality of wealth to the American people, and why should such inequality be considered a “problem?” It’s a problem if people are starving as a result, but Redbeard does not identify that as the problem.

Pg. 39:

Thereupon the Sword of Power, that had conquered on the battlefield, was carefully hidden away out of sight and ‘Constitutionalism’ invoked to aid in the re-harnessing of the Conquerors of Cornwallis, by their new masters. The old systems of Jurisprudence and Government (founded on naked force) were cleverly retained even amplified; and at the same time the white skinned populations were cunningly proclaimed ‘free and equal.’ Never having enjoyed genuine personal freedom (except on the Indian border) being for the most part, descendants of hunted-out European starvelings and fanatics, (defeated battlers) they now stupidly thought that they had won Freedom at last by the patent device of selecting a complete outfit of new tax-gatherers every fourth year.

These words ring increasingly true as the years go by. Aside from material wealth, and modern conveniences, our liberties are far fewer now than they were under King George. If you’re not yet enlightened in this matter, I suggest you read Lost Rights by James Bovard.

Pg. 46:

But, Equality before the Law is all we mean whimpers the everlasting sophist – the cunning liar! Let us see! By what rational method can any two litigants be placed in a position of unconditional ‘Equality before the Law?’ First of all, plaintiff and defendant always possess totally different physical and mental characteristics, different persona magnetisms, and – different sized bank balances. Also all judges, juries, and legal officials are unequals in temperament, ability, courage, and honesty. Each one has his own peculiar idiosyncrasies, prejudices, inferiorities, superstitions, and – price. Each again, may be more or less dishonest and more or less subject to financial pressure, or caste bias. No two men are born alike; each one being literally born under his own particular star, formed of different material; swayed by different ideals; educated and moulded in a different mill; by a different process.

I doubt that anybody could reasonably dispute this point – and I doubt that the fathers of this country would dispute it either. Obviously, what they meant by “equality before the Law” is that we, as a society, are obliged to STRIVE for such equality to the best of our ability. We know we can never achieve it. We can never completely conquer disease, pestilence or corruption either – but this does not absolve us from trying. We take pride in doing the best we can.

Pg. 50, 51:

You have only to look at some men, to know that they belong to an inferior breed. Take the Negro for example. His narrow cranial development, his prognathous jaw, his projecting lips, his wide nasal aperture, his simian disposition, his want of forethought, originality, and mental capacity; are all peculiarities strictly inferior. Similar language may be applied to the Chinaman, the Coolie, the Kanaka, the Jew, and to the rotten-boned city degenerates of Anglo-Saxondom; rich and poor.

This is a bridge too far. How dare he criticize Jews! Redbeard was not very fond of Jews, even the Jesus kind of Jew. In case you were wondering, a “Kanaka” is a Pacific Islander employed as a manual laborer in Australia. Actually, I quoted this paragraph mainly because I thought it was funny.

Pg. 81:

It is not improbable that this earth itself is a living breathing organism, and that the Tribes of Man are microbes and bloodsucking vermin (on its outer cuticle) imagining themselves “the whole thing.” Just as itch-creating parasites burrow into our own hide, so (in our turn) we may be unpleasant parasites, burrowing in the hide of some nobler and grander Being.

According to Wikipedia, the concept of the Earth being an integrated living organism (Gaia) was invented in the 1970s. Redbeard completed his book in 1894. Some of y’all may be familiar with the late George Carlin’s comparison of humans on Earth to “a bad case of fleas.” Now you know where he got the idea.

Pg. 83:

When not thwarted by artificial contrivances, whatever argument Nature promulgates is – RIGHT. The further man gets away from Nature, the further he departs from right. To be right is to be natural, and to be natural is to be right. The sun shines, therefore it is right that it should shine – the rain falls, therefore it is right that it should fall – the tides ebb and flow, therefore it is right that they should ebb and flow.

Darwin’s law exists – may be seen in operation – is practicable – of daily demonstration – therefore it is also right. It is not a dream like “Religion,” it is not an invention like “Morals,” it is not an assumption like “God.” It is a cosmic Fact, like the sunshine, the rain, and the tides!

I would say that the above represents the essence of this book, more than anything else I have quoted.

I’ve been alive longer than most, and I’ve had plenty of time to ponder the nature of morality. There is no escaping the fact that it is largely arbitrary. If people suddenly materialized on this Earth, and had no inkling how to behave toward each other, they might look to nature for answers. They might, indeed, end up as brutes, killing each other over trivial matters, and taking mates by force. Perhaps we were this way once – but some of us have evolved, and become more sophisticated. The result is a thing called “Human Nature.” It’s both Nature, and human. To say that we are “part of nature” involves give and take with the rest of nature. We can live in harmony with the non-human natural world, we can learn many things from it – and we can also honor our OWN nature. The best source of guidance, for most of us, is introspection and our upbringing. There is nothing “unnatural” about this. Human society is a manifestation of nature, and it needs social capital. In other words, our nature demands that we be nice to strangers, at least within our own society, and in times of peace. On the larger scale, international cooperation is also a manifestation of nature. When possible, we should strive for harmony. This is also natural.

Pg. 89:

(A man’s family is his property – it is part of himself. Therefore his NATURAL business is to defend it, as he would his own life. Women and children BELONG to man; who must hunt for them as well as for himself. He is their lord and master, in theory and in fact. Women are subsidiary organisms.)

I wouldn’t go so far as to agree with this wholeheartedly; the natural corollary would be that a man may do as he wishes to his children and wife – including murder. However, I do believe there is an element of truth here, at least regarding the minor children. This is why I don’t see a problem with circumcision, and I’ve written about this elsewhere.

Pg. 112:

Slay one man (in order to rob him) and you are a murderer. Slay a million men (in order to rob them) and you are a renowned general.

Many years later, the quote “A single death is a tragedy; a million deaths is a statistic” (or something to that effect) was attributed to Josef Stalin.

Pg. 117:

No man has (or ever had) any INHERENT right to the use of the earth; nor to personal independence; nor to property, nor to wives, nor to liberty of speech; nor to freedom of thought; nor to ANYTHING; except he can (by himself or in conjunction with his allies) assert his “rights” by Power. What are (in popular parlance) called “rights,” are really “spoil” – the prerogatives of formerly exerted Might; but a “right” lapses immediately, when those who are enjoying it, become incapable of further maintaining it.

We can agree that “rights” are a man-made concept, and that their existence is often fragile. But they are extremely useful in a functioning society, “artificial” or not. In my mind, this transience makes them all the more valuable. Good health is also a fragile thing, here today and gone tomorrow. Does this mean we should ignore good health practices? I speak for many when I say that I enjoy the freedom to speak as I please, think as I please, live where I please, own (most) property as I please. That somebody can take these freedoms from me by force is all the more reason to be vigilant, and to protect them. It’s all the more reason to maintain a strong, and loyal, military, police force and personal arsenal. If Redbeard is suggesting that I should go forth and seize the property of others, just because I can, then what’s stopping them from doing so to me? If preferring security and order makes me a degenerate, then so be it. I can live with that.

Pg. 145:

There are two distinct yet parallel species of the parasitical Semite: – The first, represented by Marx, Lasalle, Stepniak, and Jesus-the-dreamer; the second, by Goshen, Rothchild, Baring, and Iscariot-the-Banker. Between them they’ve practically extinguished civil liberty and personal independence, wherever they have been sheltered. Viper like, do they not bite the very mamae that gives them suck? What have they ever done to Gaul but eat her heart out; and Gaul was first to “emancipate” them? What are they now doing to Germany, Russia, England, America, Africa, Australia? Poisoning the brain-cells of the enslaved multitude while taking-in-pledge – the plough and the harrow – the millstone and the mill.

As stated, Redbeard did not like Jews very much… but compare this with what he writes later (pg. 98):

Get property, honestly if  you can; but remember “business is business.”…

‘Moral principles’ you say! What are moralisms that they should paralize your arm and brain? Are they not artificial human enactments, apparently sanctified; but not necessarily natural, hones, just, or true? Moral codes are the Black Terror of all dastards.

… and (pg. 160):

Therefore all men who would obtain freedom must obtain wealth ‘by hook or by crook,’ or as R.L. Stevenson rhymes it: – ‘You also scan your life horizon, for all that you can clap your eyes on.’ To become the child-bearer of a mere hireling, a day drudge, is the last resort of a sensible feminine.

Throughout the book, Redbeard tells us to take what we can, by any means necessary – and yet he’s sour that Jews have been more successful at it than others.

Pg. 146:

Even in years of peace, (peace may be considered a temporary truce – a partial suspension of the struggle for survival) civilians in female society are at a heavy discount, when the gold-braided naval lieutenant or the ‘Captain in his whiskers’ is prowling around. At balls and receptions, the martial uniform carries all before it sexually, (more especially if there be a MAN inside) just as it does among the head hunters of Borneo, the cannibals of the Congo, the redskins of Oklahoma – or the gruesome savages of Chicago.

This is self-evident. The common fetish women have of men in uniform is clearly based upon the authority that such uniforms carry – and this authority is based on brute force. Without brute force, the uniform would mean nothing. I’m not sure what Redbeard means by “the gruesome savages of Chicago.” It appears Chicago has been a hotbed of violence for a long time.

Pg. 148:

A woman is primarily a reproductive cell-organism, a womb structurally embastioned by a protective, defensive, osseous network; and surrounded with the antenae, and blood vessels, necessary for supplying nutriment to the growing ovum or embryo. Sexualism and maternity dominate the lives of all true women. To such an extent is this so, that they have little time left (or inclination) to “think” and therefore they’ve never been fitted out ab-initio with reasoning organs. Probably this is what Mahomet alluded to, when he sententiously affirmed that “women have no soul.” (Even in man, the soul is probably a fiction, but in women its absence is an absolute certainty)… They are never touched with any sense of personal responsibility; are mere babies in worldly concerns – hysterical, well supplied with tear glands, verbal mechanism – but lovable always. Slaves and women are notoriously incompetent of self-control – of holding their own in ‘business’ – when not inspired and assisted by male friends. They are intended by nature to be loved and defended but not to be “equalized.”

When their passions are stirred, women have performed deeds of heroism (and of terror), that even a man with nerves of steel, would hesitate at. They have fought on sea and land, the bravest of the brave…

I suspect that, if Redbeard was married, his wife forced him to add the second paragraph. I think he’s got a point that women should not be “equalized.” The “equalization” of women coincided with the downfall of Western civilization. On the whole, the performance of women in leadership positions has not been encouraging. Look at Sweden for example, or Germany.

Pg. 150:

But whether a criminal is successful or not, he seems to have a peculiar fascination for women. He who “risks his life to advance his fortunes” may reckon beforehand upon unlimited feminine approval. If he SUCCEEDS and becomes a millionaire, a chancellor, a president, or a king; he has only to ‘hold up his hand’ to be literally ‘rushed’ by the handsomest feminines in the land; and even if he fails bravely, women will gather in shoals to visit him in gaol, besieging him with bouquets and proposals of marriage, even at the gallows. In Michigan a law has lately been enacted, to prohibit female adorers, from sending flowers to condemned murderers, burglars, and bank wreckers. Lombroso says somewhere that “good and passionate women have a fatal propensity to love bad men;”

This is one of those things that never change. Women like the “bad boy.” One wonders if this is why the female leaders of Sweden and Germany so enthusiastically allow hordes of rapists and murderers into their countries. The effeminate “male” rulers of other Western countries follow their lead.

Pg. 155:

Gradually the cure of ‘Law’ invades the privacy of every home. It encourages emotional feminines to defy husbands, and Deify an irresponsible Authority. In other words it deliberately promotes unfaithfulness and unlimited free-love. It undermines the husband’s Control, but at what a dreadful cost? With the “equalization” of women comes wholesale panmixia – scientific concubinage, State-regulated polyandry, and the poisoning of all inter-family intercourse.

In other words, the goal of many Communists: The abolition of the family, and its replacement by The State – which will proceed to erase all vestiges of distinctive peoples, so that it may control the masses more easily.

Overall, I recommend reading this book. The fact that Amazon censored it is an approbation in its own right.

Leftist thought taken to extremes

Generally speaking, leftists will downplay natural distinctions, while rightists will enshrine them.

Hence, race-denialism is consistent with the leftist mindset. So too is gender-denialism, or rather the substitution of natural gender with man-made concepts. This also goes hand in hand with the left’s strong belief in nurture over nature.

In a 2016 article on Inverse.com, Megan Logan tells us:

Relationships between humans and humanoid aliens is something of a staple on Star Trek. A part of the Trek canon from the outset, interspecies mating isn’t uncommon on the show and makes for some really interesting social commentary about prejudice and diversity…

While it’s tough to believe that interspecies relationships would be capable of producing viable offspring given what we understand about reproductive isolation, Star Trek was never intended to be a genetics lesson. It’s always been about social commentary, and for that reason, its interspecies relationships make for some of the universe’s most compelling elements.

Relationships between very different alien races coming from very different backgrounds help to overcome stereotypes, prejudice, and barriers put in place by the galactic “society.” Star Trek has always been casually progressive when it comes to race and gender, and extending the forward-thinking principle of equality and respect for all to interspecies relationships seems the logical next step.

It was this sort of mentality that lead to a series of experiments where chimpanzees were raised among humans, in the hope that they’d grow up to be just like us. The last of these experiments was orchestrated by Professor Bill Lemmon, who was eccentric, and described as a “proto-beatnik.” I don’t know if he would be considered “leftist” today, but the notion that behavioral/academic disparities can be eliminated through the right intervention and opportunities is a strong pillar of leftist thought.

The following article was written by Huyen Nguyen for Quora, and is reproduced with his/her permission:

At the turn of the last century, a bold scientific vision emerged – to create a humanised ape. Some scientists imagined that such a creature would become the ideal worker, both strong and intelligent. Yet, despite intensive training, the apes remained frustratingly obstinate and difficult to domesticate. The goal of creating a slave faded and was replaced by the desire to find an intelligent companion. It was also of great scientific interest how different we are from our cousins and whether we are unique in our mental capacity.

Baby apes do look a lot like humans and are quite adorable. It was believed that if placed in caring human families, apes would grow up human and be able to talk and reason like us. Apes were believed to be like feral children, who possess innate, human-like intelligence that can be nurtured in an appropriate environment.

By the 1960s, there had been a few home-rearing experiments, all of which were difficult and made people realise that raising an ape among people didn’t magically turn it into a human. Bill Lemmon, an eccentric professor at the University of Oklahoma was not ready to give up yet. He reasoned that the previous experiments were unsuccessful because they started too late in the ape’s life and ended too early. He found two colleagues, Maurice and Jane Temerlin, who were willing to serve as the host family.

In 1964, Lemmon acquired a newborn chimp from a zoo in Florida. The chimp was named Lucy. The Temerlins honoured their promise and treated Lucy like their own daughter. Lucy ate at the table with the family and played with neighbourhood kids. She was taught sign language and mastered over one hundred words. Amazingly, she was taught to hug people and even make tea!

But gradually, her chimp nature became apparent. Lucy would often climb on things and turn the house into chaos. The strangeness of the experiment grew as time went by.

When she was three, Maurice noticed she enjoyed eating rotten apples in the yard. He realized that the fermented fruit was making her high, so he gave her alcohol before dinner. Soon, she was having cocktails every day with her ‘parents’.

The story got even more bizarre as Maurice tracked Lucy’s sexual development. As Lucy entered puberty, she learned to use the vacuum cleaner as a vibrator and was totally uninhibited about masturbation. Maurice wondered what would happen if he were equally uninhibited? To find out, he masturbated in front to her. Soon both Maurice and Jane would masturbate in front of Lucy and she seemed totally undisturbed by the scene. But when both parents went at it together, Lucy grew highly agitated and tried to stop them.

Maurice was curious whether Lucy would develop any sexual interest in him. Luckily, she didn’t and tended to avoid him whenever she went into oestrus. When the Temerlins introduced her for the first time to a male chimpanzee, she was frightened and did not relate to him, let alone find him attractive. But she made explicit sexual invitations towards other men. She was even provided with copies of Playgirl magazine, which she greatly enjoyed. Maurice made a disturbing revelation that “Lucy attempts to mouth my penis whenever she sees it, whether I am urinating, bathing, or have an erection”, which later cost him his university job. There was a limit how shocking a scientific experiment could go, he found.

After ten years of raising Lucy, who was becoming increasingly violent and destructive, her parents had grown tired of it and longed for a normal life again. They faced a difficult question: what to do about Lucy?

They found an option that seemed promising: a new experimental chimp rehab centre in Gambia where captive chimps were taught survival skills and then released back into the wild.

In 1977, the Temerlins, Lucy and a young grad student, Janis Carter arrived at Abuko Nature Reserve. When it was time to leave, Carter hesitated. Lucy was clearly suffering in the foreign environment, scared and confused. Carter realised that if they all left, Lucy would probably soon die. So she made a brave decision to stay and help Lucy.

After her parents left, Lucy stayed in a protected enclosure. She sulked and avoided other chimps. After all, she had never been among her species before. Meanwhile, Carter took care of a few more orphaned chimps. After eighteen months of little progress with Lucy, Carter decided Lucy needed a more dramatic break with human civilisation. She took the chimps into the jungle.

She slept inside a wire cage at night for protection. But the chimps, fearful of the jungle, tried to stay as close to her as possible. In the next few weeks, she taught them how to be chimps again, how to sleep in the trees and how to forage the forest. All the other chimps made good progress but Lucy, who longed for her previous human life. Lucy refused to adapt to her new reality. It was not until Carter decided to withhold food and attention that Lucy began to budge. After Carter grew more confident of Lucy’s ability to survive, she visited less and less often.

In 1986, nearly a decade after the trip to Gambia, Carter returned to visit Lucy, bringing her some gifts from back home. A moving picture captured them hugging each other. But Lucy wasn’t interested in the gifts from her old life and walked back to the jungle. She died one year later of unknown cause.

Her death marked the end of a century of attempts to humanise apes. Today we know that there is no evidence apes possess a linguistic capacity similar to human. It remains impossible to domesticate apes and illegal to own, purchase or sell them in African countries. They aren’t going to be our prime mates anytime soon.

Not everything that somewhat resembles us is “just like us.” Be compassionate – but respect boundaries and borders.

Mayor Lightfoot embodies “disparities”

Here’s a screenshot from Yahoo:

lightfoot

Chicago mayor Lightfoot says:

I’m on national media and I’m out in the public eye,” she responded to a reporter. “I take my personal hygiene very seriously. As I said, I felt like I needed to have a haircut. I’m not able to do that myself, so I got a haircut. You want to talk more about that?

Yes. Let’s talk more about that. She could give herself a haircut. I do it all the time, and many others do so as well. It’s not that hard, especially if you have a household member to help you with the back. She could wear a hat or a hijab. She could not worry about it for a month.

To be fair, plenty of white and Asian people have violated social distancing for stupid reasons. Blacks do not have a monopoly on this – but, as the adjacent story points out, blacks are “disproportionately affected by Coronavirus.” Lightfoot even alludes to this herself, as she excuses herself for this folly:

Lightfoot insisted she is “practicing what I’m preaching” since the woman who did her haircut wore a mask and gloves.

“I think what really people want to talk about is, we’re talking about people dying here. We’re talking about significant health disparities. I think that’s what people care most about,” the mayor continued

These “significant health disparities” might be due to childish beliefs. Masks and gloves do not provide 100% protection from the virus. Even I know that. Being the “public face of this city” means that you should lead by example. If getting a haircut is important enough to violate social distancing, then so are many other trivial things in our lives.

Thanks for demonstrating for us, Mayor Lightfoot, the root cause of racial disparities in the CCPVirus.

Adendum:

I wanted to include a comment, taken from another Yahoo article, by a person named David:

It’s no surprise to me that there would be racial and poverty level differences in who gets infected but it doesn’t necessarily mean that anyone is discriminating. I live in a middle income mostly white neighborhood in Washington state but work in an impoverished neighborhood with a large Black, Hispanic, and Asian population and the difference in how the people in those neighborhoods treat social distancing is as different as night and day.

African “protesters” ransack hospital

The video originally appeared on Reuters, but seems to have been removed. Yahoo still has the video and article – at least for now:

Protesters tore down a makeshift COVID-19 hospital in Ivory Coast’s capital Abidjan on Sunday (April 6) night.

To the banging of pots and pans, and cries of “we don’t want it”, the angry residents of Yopougon dismantled the partially built structure.

The person filming the scene is saying they are opposed to the facility, for treating those with the new coronavirus, being built quote “right in the middle of the Ivorian population”.

Market stalls on a road leading to the structure were also set ablaze.

This goes hand in hand with my previous post. Watching the video, I don’t see civic responsibility, or concern for others. Law enforcement is nowhere to be seen. It’s only irrational fear that motivates these people. Some of them will fall ill with the CCPVirus. At that point, will they regret having burnt down the hospital?

Racial disparities in Covid-19 deaths

A Propublica article points out that, based on the data now available, blacks have been dying from the CCPVirus disproportionately.

As of Friday morning, African Americans made up almost half of Milwaukee County’s 945 cases and 81% of its 27 deaths in a county whose population is 26% black. Milwaukee is one of the few places in the United States that is tracking the racial breakdown of people who have been infected by the novel coronavirus, offering a glimpse at the disproportionate destruction it is inflicting on black communities nationwide.

In Michigan, where the state’s population is 14% black, African Americans made up 35% of cases and 40% of deaths as of Friday morning. Detroit, where a majority of residents are black, has emerged as a hot spot with a high death toll. As has New Orleans. Louisiana has not published case breakdowns by race, but 40% of the state’s deaths have happened in Orleans Parish, where the majority of residents are black.

Illinois and North Carolina are two of the few areas publishing statistics on COVID-19 cases by race, and their data shows a disproportionate number of African Americans were infected.

Naturally, the article blames this on the racism:

Then, when the shelter-in-place order came, there was a natural pushback among those who recalled other painful government restrictions — including segregation and mass incarceration — on where black people could walk and gather…

Environmental, economic and political factors have compounded for generations, putting black people at higher risk of chronic conditions that leave lungs weak and immune systems vulnerable: asthma, heart disease, hypertension and diabetes. In Milwaukee, simply being black means your life expectancy is 14 years shorter, on average, than someone white.

The way I see it, there are three things that would motivate people to obey social-distancing guidelines: A sense of civil responsibility (IE. concern about others), fear of contracting the disease oneself, and  fear of punishment by the government.

Readers of this blog, and astute citizens of multi-racial societies, are well aware that black crime rates are consistently higher than that of whites – and that white crime rates are higher than that of Asians.

What prevents people from committing crimes? Concern about others, fear of being beaten/shot by the victim, and fear of being caught and punished by the government.

It should come as no surprise that more crime-prone populations are also less likely to conform to social-distancing guidelines. The main motivation would be fear of contracting the disease themselves, or perhaps of passing it on to loved ones.

Should the CCPVirus linger among blacks, after it has been mostly eradicated among other races, we can look forward to charges of “racism” when we keep our distance from blacks – just as there were cries of “racism” when people were wary of Asians.

So far, it appears that the majority of Coronattacks against Asians have been perpetrated by blacks. Here’s a link for the latest (known) Coronattack. So far, no major news outlet has pointed out that such perpetrators are usually black. But if whites were to attack blacks (in the scenario I described above), those same news outlets will put the race of the perpetrators at the top of the articles.

Quartz: Africans are good for UK

Writing for Quartz, Olu Alake mourns the death of African doctors in the UK:

The significance of three African NHS doctors being among first to die in UK’s coronavirus battle

There was a tragic inevitability the ongoing Covid19 pandemic would sooner than later begin to ravage the medical staff of UK’s revered National Health Service (NHS), but there was added poignancy about the identities of the first three frontline doctors who lost their lives.

Dr Adil El Tayar (64) and Dr Amged el-Hawrani (55 years old) are Sudanese, while Dr Alfa Saadu (68) is Nigerian. The three of them had accumulated over 100 years of dedicated service to the NHS: two of them, El Tayar and Saadu had retired but recently voluntarily returned to assist the NHS and the country through the pandemic.

All three African-born doctors were Muslims, a fourth NHS doctor to die, Habib Zaidi, 76, of Pakistani origin was also a Muslim. As much as one might pray, there is a strong likelihood more NHS staff of all types of backgrounds and levels will become infected with the virus, the hope is for few or no more deaths.

In a nutshell, Alake seems to be saying that Africans and Muslims are good for the UK. A quick glance at Alake’s contributions to Quarz shows that he is fixated on blacks and Africans. One would think that such a proud black man, obsessed as he is with Africa and blacks, would actually LIVE in Africa. But no. He lives in London. I don’t know if he’s Muslim, but he clearly admires Islam. On Alake’s Linkedin profile, we find:

Specialities: Strategic management of Projects and Programmes; Social Justice, especially regarding Culture (arts & heritage), Children & Young People…

The Pakistani grooming scandal would be right up his alley, considering it involves “young people” and “social justice.” What does he have to say about this issue? As far as I can tell, he is silent about it. What about black crime in the UK? The Guardian has this to say about it:

Although the majority of black boys in London achieve well in school and thereafter, a few things cannot be denied: black boys in London are massively over-represented in stabbings; black-on-black violence is significantly gang-related; gangs in London are crime-focused; the age of recruitment and grooming of young people for gang activity is dropping to primary school levels. Poverty and deprivation (of life chances and opportunity) can drive boys and young men into violent criminal activity. When male role models for these boys are neighbourhood gang elders (often replacing absent fathers) and a “gangsta” culture prevails, the boys stand little chance of escaping.

Does Alake, or Quartz, even acknowledge the high black (and Muslim) crime-rates in the UK? Perhaps, but I couldn’t find it. Mr. Alake, if you’re reading this, feel free to comment; I don’t claim to be aware of everything you’ve ever written – but surely you’ll agree that violent crime, among blacks, is also “significant.”

3 African doctors died from the CCPVirus (Chinese Communist Party virus). I didn’t know them personally. Let’s assume they were fine, selfless, people who gave their lives to protect others. I’m all for acknowledging their sacrifice. Give credit where credit is due.

But if we’re going to do so based on their racial/religious demographics, then it behooves us to look at the whole picture. Just today, a Sudanese man went on a stabbing spree in Southern France, killing 2 and injuring several others.

Needless to say, the MSN headline does not say “Sudanese man stabs several people.” No, instead, he’s described simply as a “knifeman.”
