Urban League of Portland president resigns amid corruption charges

A recent Oregonian article tells us:

After years of looking into spending by the president of the Urban League of Portland, county officials said the nonprofit has until next week to present an acceptable plan of dealing with fiscal concerns if county funding is to continue.
Multnomah County auditors have questioned league president Marcus C. Mundy’s use of the organization’s credit card since 2009 and have repeatedly asked for receipts on about $44,000 worth of expenditures, officials said.
The Willamette Week reported Wednesday that Mundy provided receipts for some of the purchases — which included grocery purchases, a March 2009 trip to Beijing and Mundy’s childrens’ cell phone bills — but auditors are concerned the bills have “no clear relationship to the nonprofit’s mission.”
The county has given the league — which operates on an annual budget of roughly $1 million — about $729,000 over the past three years.
“We pay the Urban League as a provider because the agency is a venerable institution that has a history of helping people of color, seniors, students, low-income people and other vulnerable populations,” said David Austin, county spokesman, in a statement. “That important work the agency does must continue. But fiscal monitoring and tight controls must be a part of that for county funding to continue.”

What I want to know is who gave Multnomah County officials the authority to prop up a racist organization with taxpayer loot.  If the Urban League had “a history of helping white people…“, instead of “people of color”, not only would it fail to receive even one penny of county funding but there would be an uproar over its very existence.  The white people of Multnomah County are being forced to support an organization that openly discriminates against them.
It wasn’t long ago that the Multnomah County board of commissioners came under fire for wasting a far smaller amount of money.  Isn’t racism supposed to be worse than wasting money?
In the end, Mundy resigned, but it is not likely he will return any of his $90,000/yr. salary to taxpayers.  It would be nice if Mundy was held accountable for his theft, but this is unlikely to happen.  I will give credit where credit is due; at least he was taking care of his kids.

Affirmative action and law students

Somebody requested that I post the following article – and I agreed to do so.  Being a man of my word, here it is:

5 Ways Affirmative Action has Lowered the Standards for Law Students

No matter what law school or education you decide on, affirmative action can be a major factor as to whether you get in or not.  Affirmative action was first brought about in the 60’s to help give minority students a chance at entering the same schools as their white counterparts.  However, today the laws surrounding it have astounding results as detailed in part by UCLA law professor Rick Sander (link).  His study found several disturbing results which are listed below.

  1. Poorer grades – Although students of various races who are admitted to a law school based on the same criteria do the same, those given preferential treatment were found by the study to have lower grades in law school.  According to the study, average black students were found to have first-year grades comparable to a white student at the 7th or 8th percentile.
  2. Lower bar exam pass rates – Every law student knows the bar can be an immensely difficult exam for any student.  Only 45 percent of black law students in the study were able to pass the bar on their first attempt while Professor Sandler estimated that without affirmative action, the number would rise to 74 percent.
  3. Not many more black law students – Even with preferential treatment, the study estimates that 86 percent of blacks who apply for law school would have been admitted anyway, regardless of any affirmative action policies.
  4. Fewer lawyers – All this affirmative action may have good intentions, but it actually seems to be hurting the number of black law school students who go on to be lawyers.  The total number of blacks who became lawyers dropped 7.9 percent, according to the study.
  5. Unseen effects – Although all of the above can be measured on some scale, there really is no way to measure the impact a law school student who was admitted mainly because of affirmative action will react to entering a school where their peers are more qualified.
    Effects on these student’s learning, motivation, and goals can all be affected in all sorts of unseen ways.

Diversity in mourning

One of the commenters, by the name of EMoom, wrote:

This ignorance of diversity in grief reactions becomes a legal problem when police assume that someone’s show of grief isn’t “normal” and therefore indicates the individual may have killed the deceased. Televised comments by police make it clear that they are confident in their ability to determine whether someone is showing real (i.e. “appropriate”) signs of grief at the death of a family member or friend, and that they base their determination of guilt on this assessment.
Crying too much or too little, dressing “inappropriately,” virtually any activity in the aftermath of a violent death (going out to eat, eating too much, drinking alcohol or abstaining, going about normal activities or staying isolated at home) can be interpreted as proof of guilt…

This is a very good point.  A lack of grief can, indeed, be a good clue to the guilt of a spouse or family member.  Law enforcement loses a valuable tool when cultural diversity renders it difficult, or impossible, to determine whether somebody is mourning.  This is just one more example of how cultural diversity can harm society.  I’m still waiting for a good argument in favor of such diversity.

Is miscegenation taking a new turn?

I was leafing through a recent edition of The Columbian, a local southern Washington newspaper, when an interesting advertisement caught my eye.  It actually featured a white man with a very dark black woman.  I thought to myself, “This is unusual”.  Upon further reflection, however, I realized that this sort of couple has become more prevalent over the last few months in advertising.  Just today, I was browsing through a catalog I got in the mail, and there it was again!  A little white boy playing next to a little black girl.
Could it be that the crude obviousness of their promotion of black male/ white female pairing has attracted too much attention, and too much ridicule, for the comfort of those who control the media?  Can we take credit for this development?  I don’t think so.
A more plausible explanation is that pressure from black women has prompted this shift in focus.  There is, in fact, a movement among black women to make it more socially acceptable for them to marry out.  Khadija Nassif writes in her blog*:

I’m thankful to see that the BWE movement has achieved lasting victory after only a few short years:

  • The core BWE message that Black women who are serious about marriage must expand their dating options to include nonblack men has firmly entered the mainstream. One can see this with the conversations and publicity surrounding Ralph Richard Banks’ book Is Marriage For White People?
  • A critical mass of African-American women have heard the BWE message, and have MOVED ON into enjoying abundant life in the global village. They’ve stopped restricting themselves to the dead Black community and vampiric all-Black social circles. They’ve stopped hindering their marriage options by refusing to speak or engage in the “nothing but a Black man” self-sabotage…
This quiet and growing exodus of sensible African-American women has not gone totally unnoticed. There’s a YouTube video in which a frightened Black man asks the question, “Are Black Women Becoming Like Asian Women?” (in terms of dating and marrying White men). In terms of sensible Black women, the short answer is YES. As this worried Black male has noticed, increasing numbers of quality, desirable Black women are leaving the toxic all-Black dating market and have MOVED ON.
The victory of the BWE social justice movement will prove to be a lasting one because it’s sustained and enhanced by the ripple effects created by every African-American woman who finds joyous life in the outside world.
But I’m not even sure that people like Khadija can take credit for this change.  Another possibility is that the media/corporate/government establishment has been pushing the black male/white female relationship so aggressively that it is starting to backfire on them.  Thanks to their constant barrage of propaganda, it might now be considered an act of rebellion for black women to date non-black men, or for white men to date black women.  As such, it has attained a degree of coolness.
I am against large-scale miscegenation of any sort, but not all miscegenation is equal.  It is more harmful when there is a gross imbalance, when it is almost exclusively black men dating out.  Not only does such an imbalance leave a lot of lonely and frustrated people, it is also both an expression of, and a contributor to,  a caste system.

Hijacking the term "American"

Salem News is having a temper tantrum because the latest version of the National Defense Authorization Act is about to be passed into law, barring a veto from Obama.  While I agree that such laws are dangerous to whatever liberties we have left, the article is misleading in a couple of key issues.

In observing all this, you might ask WHY is this happening right now? Why would the U.S. Senate deliberately nullify theBill of Rights and seek the authorize military action on the streets of U.S. cities?
The answer, my friends, will not comfort you: A global economic collapse is coming, and once started, it will likely unleash a wave of social unrest and rioting that could burn many U.S. cities to the ground. The U.S. Senate is probably trying to rush authorization of the military to operate in American cities before the economic collapse arrives, thereby placing troops deep within the roughest U.S. cities where they stand a chance at halting the runaway riots that are sure to materialize when peoples’ life savings vanish as the banks collapse.

Are we really to believe that hordes of disgruntled A.A.R.P. members (old whites) are going to riot in the streets?  Of course they won’t; they’ll sit home and brood, waiting for a sympathetic reporter to come and interview them so they can tell their tales of woe.  Other bloggers have already pointed out the obvious:  That it is the non-Asian minorities who will riot when their EBT cards stop working.  Whites have forgotten how to riot in this country, while blacks and Hispanics will riot at the drop of a hat.
Another deception is the use of the terms “American” or “American citizen” as if there is something sacred, or unique, about those who possess an official blessing from the Federal Government to be here.

This bill, passed late last night in a 93-7 vote, declares the entire USA to be a “battleground” upon which U.S. military forces can operate with impunity, overriding Posse Comitatus and granting the military the unchecked power to arrest, detain, interrogate and even assassinate U.S. citizens with impunity.
It’s being called the most traitorous act ever witnessed in the Senate, and the language of the bill is cleverly designed to make you think it doesn’t apply to Americans, but toward the end of the bill it essentially says it can apply to Americans “if we want it to.”

Anwar al-Awlaki was a so-called “American”.  According to the powers that be, and (apparently) the Salem News, there was no fundamental difference between Awlaki and an Iowa farmer whose ancestors arrived with the Mayflower.  Furthermore, there is no official distinction between anchor babies and members of the founding stock that made America great in the first place.  They all have exactly the same rights and exactly the same protections.  Officially, there is no distinction between slum slime and a winner of the Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine.  The ongoing mantras of “diversity” and “equality” have led us down a path where true, red-blooded Americans must be treated the same as Islamic terrorists or “aspiring rap artists”.
By refusing to acknowledge important distinctions between humans, the Left has brought about a situation where we must all be treated as dangerous potential criminals – “for our own protection”.

African dictators, corruption and their bling

According to the Daily Mail (gore warning on source page):

Former Ivory Coast president Laurent Gbagbo has today been charged with murder, rape, persecution and inhuman acts by the International Criminal Court.
The crimes were allegedly committed as his backers fought to keep him in power last year.

If found guilty, Mr. Gbagbo could be sentenced to remain with his wife for another twenty years.  I would be downcast too.

I’ve often wondered where African strong men get their bling.  Do they sell it at Walmart over there?  Do they order it from a special online catalog for dictators and tyrants?  Perhaps the father of African bling was the infamous Idi Amin

Some of those look like they could have been police badges at one point.  Others could have come from cereal boxes or perhaps they were trinkets given away by airlines.  What do they symbolize?  It’s possible that each one represents an enemy that Amin had eaten.  It’s also possible that their primary purpose was to deflect the bullets of would-be assassins.
Former Central African dictator Jean Bedel Bokassa was known for running his poverty-stricken nation into the ground through his excesses and corruption.  Here he is in all his glory:

Is there an inverse relationship between the amount of shiny ornaments on an African dictator’s clothing and his morality?  This would be an interesting field of study for African dictatoroligists.

Arrows in the hand of a warrior

Like arrows in the hands of a warrior
are children born in one’s youth  (Psalms 127:4).

If children are like arrows, we would do well to make sure we’re on the right side of the bow.  As it stands, Western civilization is being subject to a hail of arrows from its enemies.  Angel Adams has 15 arrows in her quiver, and they’re being aimed at the heart of our civilization.  She says, “Someone’s gonna pay for me and my kids”.  Unfortunately, she’s right.
Humans instinctively want to protect children, even the children of other species.  Long ago, humans and wolves formed a symbiotic relationship.  Both species have benefited as a result.  Like other instincts, the love of children has been formalized and institutionalized.  Even primitive man understood that children represent the future.  This makes a lot of sense when the children are of your own kind and represent, in a genetic and cultural sense, your own future.  But when it comes to Angel Adams, we need to ask ourselves whose future her children represent.  The relationship between ghetto blacks and Western civilization is not a symbiotic one; it is a parasitic one and an abusive one.
It seems to me that this is a good example of our natural instincts being usurped for evil.  Adam’s children are unlikely to grow up to be cancer researchers; they are more likely to end up murdering cancer researchers.  They are already diverting valuable resources away from more fruitful endeavors.
If this post seems unkind and callous, it is because I am asking for clarification:  At what point does compassion cease being a virtue and, instead, become a dangerous weakness?  The ancient Jewish sages said, “He who is compassionate to the cruel will ultimately become cruel to the compassionate”.  Even animals can show compassion, but only humans have the power to temper their instincts with reason.  In Adam’s case, reason would have dictated that she be sterilized (at least temporarily) until she can support her own children.  Now that the damage has been done, let the whole family be deported to Liberia.  I am not in favor of deporting all blacks to Africa, but America does need a dumping ground for those like Adams.  If people want to show compassion toward her offspring, let them do so at a safe distance.  Let them not do so at the expense and peril of the rest of us.

Are white girls more likely to cut themselves?

In Psychology Today, Dr. Leonard Sax complains that people avoid talking about gender differences in people who cut themselves.  He writes:

I’m bothered that so few people want to address the gender differences in NSSI* – which I think are absolutely central to understanding why these young people are hurting themselves, and essential to intervening effectively with them.  Marilyn Manson is not Megan Fox.  Marilyn Manson’s issues are not Megan Fox’s issues.  Interventions which might have helped Marilyn Manson stop cutting would be unlikely to benefit Megan Fox, and vice versa.  Nevertheless — even people who really care about NSSI tend to overlook or deliberately understate gender issues here.  The leading non-profit organization concerned with NSSI, “To Write Love On Her Arms,” asserts on their web site that self-injury “. . .has the same occurrence between males and females.”  Not true.
Gender matters.  Why are people so afraid to talk about it?

But really, Dr. Sax, it’s not so bad.  There is no taboo against discussing gender differences, at least when the victims are disproportionately female.  It does appear to be true, however, that not enough people distinguish between different types of self-destructive behavior.  Cutting is not attempted suicide and it is certainly not the same as smashing one’s fist against a wall.
There does appear to be a taboo against serious discussion of racial disparities in cutting in the U.S.  I strongly suspect that white people are much more likely to cut themselves than blacks.  Asians are also probably more likely to do so.  It is claimed that South Asian women in the U.K. are at higher risk than white women.  Apparently, there is no taboo against addressing this.  Others have brought up the black/white disparity in cutting, here and here for example, but with no statistics or studies to support their claims.
But are there actual studies and statistics that deal with racial disparities in cutting in the United States?  It is doubtful, and I suspect the reason is that anecdotal evidence implies that whites are at higher risk than “people of color”.   Establishment people love to think they are iconoclasts and breakers of taboos.  If Dr. Sax were a true iconoclast, he would tackle the racial angle of cutting.  But pointing out that a problem disproportionately affects whites is a real taboo, not a make-believe one.  So we must either create our own studies or rely on guesswork for the time being.

  • A low voter turnout traditionally benefits the right-wing and conservative parties. It’s dumb not to vote, since in a democracy, voting is the way to make your voice heard. Dumb people don’t vote, smart do. A high voter turnout means that more of dumb people have cast their ballots, and the left wing parties fare better. So what can we infer about those who support the left-wing parties?
  • Calling snowmobile safaris a way to enjoy nature is akin to calling rape a way to enjoy female companionship.
  • Sciences try to explain complex phenomena in a maximally simple manner. Humanities and arts try to explain away simple phenomena in a maximally complex manner.
  • A hyphenated last name on a woman is a warning sign similar to the bright colouring of red and yellow stripes on an animal. For men, the equivalent sign is using the middle initial.
  • Right wing intellectual. Left wing populist. These expressions sound weird, unlike the ubiquitous right wing populist and left wing intellectual. However, the fact that you have to add a qualifier on a word indicates that you need to express some phenomenon that differs from the normal meaning of the word. Right wing populist and left wing intellectual thus are violations of the norm, and therefore we conclude that right wingers are normally intellectual, whereas left wingers are normally populist.
  • It seems that we won’t see peace in the Middle East until one of the two things happen: (1) Arabs no longer want to kill Jews, or (2) Jews no longer want to breathe.
  • They keep telling us that multiculturalism offers more possibilities than threats. Probably true. It’s just that these numerous possibilities are each unlikely and have a small payoff, whereas the few threats are each very likely and have massive consequences.
  • It is important to have the right amount of education. People with not enough education lack the general knowledge to understand things, whereas an overeducated person is too abstract and detached from reality. Coincidentally, everyone believes that the right amount of education is precisely the very amount that he possesses.
  • It never ceases to amaze me how much work people are willing to do just to avoid having to think.
