Trimet and “Diversity”

As you would expect, as Diversity increases, so too does crime. This holds true in public transit as much as anywhere else. A recent Trimet report tells us that, overall, public transit crime has gone down:

TriMet and Transit Police credit a drop in reported crimes against customers to a more targeted deployment of officers and resources, as well as riders doing their part by keeping a closer eye on their belongings. But an increase in crimes against employees is troubling and putting a stop to it requires the combined effort of TriMet, Transit Police, our employees and our riders.

Customers report far fewer crimes on the system in 2015

In 2015, crimes reported by our riders on board or at stations and stops dropped more than 40 percent. Reported crimes involving customers’ vehicles at park and rides decreased as well, 26 percent.

With just about one reported crime a day, or one incident in about 387,000 trips, crime on the system remains low, especially when you consider the 100.3 million rides provided last year.

In somewhat related news, the Oregonian (regrettably not a recent article) bemoans the loss of Diversity in the Portland area:

Of 354 census tracts in Multnomah, Washington and Clackamas counties, 40 became whiter from 2000 to 2010, according to The Oregonian’s analysis of the 2010 Census. Of those, two lie in rural Clackamas County. The 38 others are in Portland.

The city core didn’t become whiter simply because lots of white residents moved in, the data show. Nearly 10,000 people of color, mostly African Americans, also moved out.

And those who left didn’t move to nicer areas. Pushed out by gentrification, most settled on the city’s eastern edges, according to the census data, where the sidewalks, grocery stores and parks grow sparse, and access to public transit is limited.

As a result, the part of Portland famous for its livability — for charming shops and easy transit, walkable streets and abundant bike paths — increasingly belongs to affluent whites.

The change raises unsettling questions for a city that prides itself on tolerance, social equity and valuing diversity. What did Portland, a city known for planning, do as people of color were forced to the city’s fringes and beyond? What role did city leaders play in the dispersal? And as the city maps its future, what steps will it take to protect the diversity that remains?

“The exodus from the central city causes me great concern; it is alarming,” Portland Mayor Sam Adams said. “Whether you are a Portlander of color or a white Portlander, you should care about the fact that we offer such limited access to equal opportunities.”

Reported crime by lines

Looking at reported crimes by line, the only sections of MAX lines to see increases in 2015 were on the Blue and Red lines in Beaverton, up four crimes, and on the Red Line between Gateway Transit Center and Portland International Airport, with one additional crime reported last year. The Orange Line, which began operations September 12, 2015, experienced three reported crimes. No crimes were reported on WES Commuter Rail last year.

Only four bus lines experienced more than 10 reported crimes in 2015:
Line 72-Killingsworth/82nd Ave: 18
Line 4-Division/Fessenden: 15
Line 12-Barbur/Sandy Blvd: 13
Line 57-TV Hwy/Forest Grove: 12

If you refer to the map above, you’ll see that Killingsworth/82nd Ave. is the orange area to the right of the map. Division/Fessenden is at the top left orange area of the map. Barbur/Sandy goes through downtown and includes various areas; it’s hard to draw any conclusions from that. TV Hwy/Forest Grove goes through Hillsboro, which is heavily Hispanic.

TriMet needs the public’s help in tracking down a person who assaulted a bus operator on Mon., April 4, 2016. We’re offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible.

The assault occurred on a Line 71 bus at SE 122nd and Powell on Monday, April 4 shortly before 6 a.m. The operator was struck in the face over a fare dispute. The operator was transported to a local hospital but fortunately the operator was not seriously hurt. Transit Police is investigating. They are looking for several persons of interest in the case. TriMet has coordinated with Transit Police and Portland Police for the release of photos taken from TriMet video of those persons of interest.

Anybody who rides the MAX (Trimet’s trains) knows how much Trimet “values Diversity.” It’s posted in every car in several languages. Given the fact that Trimet drivers are more safe with a white ridership (though there are plenty of sketchy white passengers too), you would think that it would value its white employees.

Trimet has around 2,500 employees, and I saw this while riding the MAX today:

Their website describes how these “operators of the year” are selected, and I have no doubt that they’re deserving of this honor. However, I can’t help but wonder how many, of the hundreds of other operators, were not selected because they’re white males.

Don’t convert to Judaism

A friend of mine, a white man the same age as me, was telling me how he was considering converting to Judaism. I asked him why he would do a crazy thing like that. After some prodding and probing questions, it turned out that he simply wanted to belong to a tribe.

As it stands now, that man will not allow himself to identify as a proud member of the American white nation; for most of his life, it was pounded into his head that people who think that way are “racists” and “haters.” How sad.

I’ve written about this in the past, but I’ll repeat it here: White Americans are a people in the making. When my friend and I were growing up, the US was still some 90% white. Back then, white Americans were an implicit nation. The default American was white, not that there weren’t other nations within America, such as native tribes, blacks and Jews, but when you heard about somebody identifying as “American,” you could assume that person was white, and you’d probably be right.

These days, white Americans, if they wish to survive, must be more explicitly white. I told my friend that he needs to man up and take what is his: His own nationhood. It’s a copout to try to gain an identity by joining another tribe. I’m fairly certain that it’s this same lack of inner strength that leads so many to convert to Islam as well – or to identify as “Native American” when only 25% or less of that person’s ancestry is Native American.

The right thing to do, if you’ve got the balls to do it, is to take what’s yours. Take your own white identity, wear it proudly and know that you already have a tribe. Leave my tribe for real Jews.

Of course a Jew can belong both to the Jewish tribe and to the white tribe, just as an Italian American can belong to both the Italian tribe and the white tribe. As for loyalties, that’s for each individual to decide.

Racial differences in eye problems

There is no equality in nature. When I was a kid, leftist hippies used to stress the point that humans are “part of nature.” These days, the Establishment Left embraces an implicit human exceptionalism; a belief that the normal rules of nature do not, or should not, apply to humans.
But the reality is that “Some People Must be Margarinalized for the Butterment of Humanity.” There. I said it. Just give me credit if you use that play on words (yeah, it’s bad, I know).
HBD (human biodiversity) can strike at any moment. You can be casually going about your business, and then all of a sudden HBD will pop up out of nowhere, like Kilroy, and remind you that we’re not “all the same.”
That’s what happened to me just yesterday. I was having my annual eye exam, and I asked my optometrist if I could drop off my old eye-glasses at his office, so that they could be donated to poor people who might need them. He replied that my prescription would be very useful to people in Latin America. He says that my type of astigmatism is common among those ethnic groups.
So I asked him if vision problems vary according to race. He told me that they certainly do. My eyes are typical of people of Mediterranean origins. When I asked him to direct me to specific literature, he told me that it’s common knowledge (in his field), and that I could easily find material on the internet. Here’s an example:

Ethnicity appears to be associated with vision problems — such as near- and farsightedness — in children, new research suggests.
Researchers found that Asian-American children were more likely to be myopic, or nearsighted, than their Hispanic, African-American and white peers, while white children were more likely to have hyperopia, or farsightedness, than were children from the other ethnic groups. Astigmatism — an irregular curvature of the cornea that causes blurry vision — was most prevalent among Hispanic children.
“We don’t really know why these differences exist,” said Karla Zadnik, the lead author of the multi-center study and an associate professor of optometry at Ohio State University. “It’s probably like most of our modern conditions and diseases a mix a nature and nurture and factors that interact together.

My optometrist was under the impression that the differences are genetic – probably due to the fact that they persist across generations; the grandchildren of immigrants don’t share the same culture as their ancestors.
So… visit the dentist, and you’ll find HBD. Visit the eye doctor, and you’ll find HBD. Attend the Olympics, and you’ll find HBD. Visit a school*, and you’ll find HBD. Visit a prison, and you’ll find HBD.
The Establishment Left constantly tells us to “celebrate our differences.” This can only be done when we recognize those differences. Just as we don’t hate others for having different eye conditions, similarly, varying degrees of athletic/intellectual capabilities are not valid reasons for hatred. The forceful repression of such truths, however, can definitely lead to animosity and resentment. This is the situation we live in today.
I hope to meet some of y’all at the Amren conference next month – where we can speak of such things openly and as gentlemen and ladies.
*Note that this article, while exploring a plethora of theories to explain the race gap in academic achievement, completely ignores any genetic explanation; that would be heresy.

Do white students have rights?

In theory, we all have rights in this so-called “Land of the Free.” But it’s common knowledge that some of us have more rights than others. The wealthy have more rights than the poor. The strong have more rights than the weak…
… and “people of color” have more rights than whites (all else being equal of course). It’s so common for white children, who must attend school in majority black/Hispanic schools, to be harassed because of their race that the media rarely even notices it. The ruling class (whose own children are spared such harassment), to the extent that they are aware of it at all, view it as karma. Karma for sins that a few people, decades, or centuries, ago are guilty of – and since many of those people were white, the elite think it’s reasonable that white kids should suffer today.
The New York Post is reporting about one such white student, who’s suing over his past harassment:

A white student at a predominately Hispanic and black Long Island high school says he was targeted for punishment over his race — punched, hit with a chair and repeatedly called “cracker” and “white boy” — while administrators did nothing to protect him.
Lawyers for Giovanni Micheli, now 23, aim to convince a federal jury their client was singled out as a “minority” in Brentwood HS and then told by school officials, most of them white, to either “project more self-confidence” in order to stem the beating and berating — or leave.
Micheli sued the Brentwood School District in 2010, and the trial opened Monday in Brooklyn federal court.
“Giovanni was a minority because he was Caucasian,” attorney Wayne Schaefer said in his opening statement. “This case is about discrimination against a minority student . . . Our claim is that there was deliberate indifference because he was a Caucasian student complaining in a district where Caucasians are a minority.”

It’s worth noting that this story appeared at the top of Yahoo’s news page today. It appears that Yahoo is finally making an effort to present a more balanced view to its readers. I hope this trend continues.
As for Micheli, I don’t have much hope that he will prevail. The odds are stacked against him – mainly because he’s white.
The article doesn’t have a comment option. If it did, hundreds of readers would point out that they also suffered for being white. I hope some of those readers find their way here, and that they’ll share some of their own stories.
As for me, blacks harassed me because they thought I was Mexican. But they also harassed anybody who wasn’t black – and, of course, they harassed other blacks. I’m guessing it’s too late for me to sue; it’s been several decades.

The tyranny of images

Not long ago, I posted a photo of a poster I found at Winco. Some people commented that I read too much into that image. That it’s nothing more than a token black thrown in for good measure. But there are so many examples of corporate/government idolization of black males that it’s hard to see how it can be ignored. Even when images of babies or toddlers are shown, it usually a black boy with a white girl. Here’s something I found today, also at Winco:
winco boxIt’s now an entrenched convention to show the male as black (whenever practical) and the female as white or Asian. It may be coincidence that the blonde girl appears to be bowing down to the black boy, but who’s to say?
What happens when a “person of color” is depicted the same way white men typically are – in a less-than-flattering posture? There’s a “major racial controversy.” That’s what happens. From popsugar.com:

A recent GapKids ad campaign has sparked a racially charged controversy that has people infuriated. The images shot for the GapKids x Ellen DeGeneres campaign feature a photo of four young models flaunting their fashions and acrobatic skills. However, one photo in particular has prompted remarks of racial insensitivity, as one older white model is seen propping her arm up on the head of the only young black girl, as you would on a chair.

The horror! Now who’s “reading too much into it?”
Indeed. Who IS reading too much into it? I titled this post “the tyranny of  images because it seems that such images, when used consistently, can actually enslave us.
We had a few days of nice weather recently, so I decided to visit Portland’s expansive Waterfront Park. Aside from the nice weather, I was struck by the sheer number of interracial couples. I’m not one of those people who’s in favor of criminalizing miscegenation; it’s going to happen whenever two or more groups encounter each other. But I do believe that patterns of miscegenation can teach us a lot about our society and ourselves. Actions speak louder than words, and when so many white women proclaim that “race is only skin deep” or “race is a social construct” – but then go out of their way to date black men, it’s obvious that they don’t actually believe such pious proclamations. Their actions say otherwise.
I was there for about two hours, and I chose to document what I saw.

If so, what is it that fascinates them so?

In recent years, there has been a surplus of white women and black men relationships. Some will argue that this interracial relationship has been purposely promoted by the media. Some will also argue that this interracial relationship is often times dysfunctional (laziness, abuse, self hate and insecurity).
I was sent a video that was created by a YouTuber who goes by the name, MsArchDuchess. In the video she gives 18 reason why (she feels) white women date black men.
In the video, the YouTuber says she wants to give black people more to think about when it comes to the hidden motives of white women. She says you can see by the popularity of the movement (white women dating black men) that it’s not about love.
She says, “The order does not matter. There is no sequence…these women are so deluded they think they’re upholding Martin Luther King’s dream. These relationships don’t last more than 8-10 years because they have nothing to do with love.”
These are MsArchDuchess 18 reasons and explanations to why white women date black men:
1. Fat. She’s too large to attract a white men. She believes her body type is more accepted by black men.
2. Ugly and unattractive by European standards of beauty.
3. She wants to experiment. She’s curious about the black man’s genitalia, how big it is, how he performs sexually, if it’s better than being with a white man.
4. Jealous. She’s jealous of black women.
5. Boredom. She’s bored with white men. She is looking for excitement and a change. She wants to cause some friction.
6. Anger. White women that date black men are angry and see this as a form of rebellion. White rage.
7. Desperation. She can’t get the white guys she wants. She cannot go without a man.
8. Attention. Dating someone different than her own race is her way of getting attention.
9. She’s gullible.
10. Whorish. She’s sleeping with many different men. He’s just one of many.
11. Rejected. She’s intensely rejected by other men.
12. Meal Ticket. She see’s the black man as a meal ticket. Example; entertainers, athletes.
13. Her white men are too effeminate. She has this Godzilla fantasy and believes the black man is more masculine. White men have a reputation for their pedophilia and other strange sexual acts and there isn’t enough available white men for white women.
14. Mixed children. She wants mixed children. She feels mixed children will increase her worth in life.
15. She’s ghetto and feels she will fit in with ghetto black men. You can tell she ghetto by her speech, lack of goals, hair, tattoos, piercings.
16. She thinks it’s trendy.
17. Racism. Some white women date black men because they are racist. She pretends to be color blind. Why would you date someone that’s completely different looking without acknowledging it? There is a hidden racist motive.
18. Arrogant. She thinks she can have any man she wants. She believes the black men is suppose to like her.

MsArchDuchess is “a black woman who’s proud to be black,” so it’s not surprising that she’s not a fan of such relationships. In any event, her list has one glaring omission: Black men tend to have higher self-esteem than white men. Since self-esteem is high on the list of traits that women find attractive in men, it shouldn’t be surprising that, all else being equal, black men will have an advantage in this regard.

Whatever the underlying causes may be, there’s little doubt that most of these women are attracted to black men.
mys6Unfortunately, humans have little to no choice when it comes to what we’re attracted to. Factors beyond our control, such as early childhood experiences, must be contributors.
mys7I don’t believe that homosexuals have much, if any, choice in their orientation. Nor do I believe that people wake up one morning and choose to be pedophiles, necrophiliacs or zoophiles.

What would be the result if people were subject to pedophilic imagery from their earliest childhood? What if the media bombarded us with sexualized images of animals from cradle to grave?

That was a rhetorical question. We all know what would happen: There would be a marked increase in pedophiles or zoophiles in our society.
Similarly, when people are raised with imagery that consistently depicts black boys and men as more masculine, their minds will gradually comply. Naturally, the egos of these black boys and men will grow as a result of this two-pronged process: Imagery that boosts their feelings of masculinity and, coupled with this, ongoing attention from women (of all races).
A shallow person might say, “That’s great, as long as they’re happy!” But if MsArchDuchess isn’t happy, are white (and Asian) men supposed to be happy? It’s sad when white (and Asian) men internalize the message of their inferiority. When they accept that they’re subservient, and settle with the dregs of womanhood for their partners – or worse, with no partners at all.
As for the women themselves, I would argue that they are slaves. Their very desires are subject to the whims of corporations and government.
We can claim that the very notion of “liberty” is an illusion. That all of our drives and desires are subject to external forces beyond our control, whether they be our genes or microbes that live within us.
For the time being, I’m content with defining “liberty” as the ability to pursue our own destiny free of the dictates of other people. We’re all beholden to nature, but once our minds are controlled by corporations, we are no longer free, but slaves.

The hypocrisy of Islam's apologists

Dutch politician Geert Wilders is facing charges of “inciting hatred against the Dutch Moroccan minority.” According to The Guardian:

“Freedom of expression is not absolute, it is paired with obligations and responsibilities,” said the lead prosecutor, Wouter Bos, “the responsibility not to set groups of people against each other.”

“Racism and hatred of foreigners constitute a direct violation of the basis of freedom, democracy and the rule of law,” he added.

State prosecutors say Wilders asked a crowd of supporters in March 2014 whether they wanted more or fewer Moroccans in the Netherlands, triggering the chant “Fewer! Fewer! Fewer!”, to which a smiling Wilders responded: “We’ll take care of that.”

“Racism and hatred of foreigners constitute a direct violation of the basis of freedom, democracy and the rule of law,” he added.

State prosecutors say Wilders asked a crowd of supporters in March 2014 whether they wanted more or fewer Moroccans in the Netherlands, triggering the chant “Fewer! Fewer! Fewer!”, to which a smiling Wilders responded: “We’ll take care of that.”

The politician, whose decade-old Freedom party holds a commanding lead in Dutch opinion polls but has never been in power, denies any wrongdoing. “Nobody will silence me. Not about Moroccans either,” he tweeted last week. “No terrorist threats … no judge. Nobody.”

The case against Wilders in 2011 centred on his call for a “towel-head” tax and equating the Qur’an with Hitler’s Mein Kampf. He said “Muslim criminals” should be stripped of their Dutch nationality and deported…

Although Wilders’ remarks are offensive to many, he insists he has no grudge against immigrants who accept Dutch laws and customs and has never advocated violence.

Wilders has never called for violence, but he has “incited hatred” against certain groups, specifically Moroccan criminals.
I say, let’s not take his comments literally; let’s subject them to interpretation. If we can interpret the violence of the Qur’an away, then why we can’t we do so with Wilder’s offending comments?
Nabeel Qureshi explains, in an unusually honest column in USA Today, that the Qur’an, and the Hadith, do, indeed, call for violence against non-believers. He writes:

Yet as I began to investigate the Quran and the traditions of Muhammad’s life for myself in college, I found to my genuine surprise that the pages of Islamic history are filled with violence. How could I reconcile this with what I had always been taught about Islam?…

Naturally, I agree that interacting with ISIL recruiters is a bad idea, but I believe what the recruiters themselves say sheds the most insight on the radicalization process. ISIL’s primary recruiting technique is not social or financial but theological. With frequent references to the highest sources of authority in Islam, the Quran and hadith (the collection of the sayings of the prophet Muhammad), ISIL enjoins upon Muslims their duty to fight against the enemies of Islam and to emigrate to the Islamic State once it has been established…

The Quran itself reveals a trajectory of jihad reflected in the almost 23 years of Muhammad’s prophetic career. As I demonstrate carefully in my book, Answering Jihad: A Better Way Forward, starting with peaceful teachings and proclamations of monotheism, Muhammad’s message featured violence with increasing intensity, culminating in surah 9, chronologically the last major chapter of the Quran, and its most expansively violent teaching. Throughout history, Muslim theologians have understood and taught this progression, that the message of the Quran culminates in its ninth chapter…

Surah 9 is a command to disavow all treaties with polytheists and to subjugate Jews and Christians (9.29) so that Islam may “prevail over all religions” (9.33). It is fair to wonder whether any non-Muslims in the world are immune from being attacked, subdued or assimilated under this command. Muslims must fight, according to this final chapter of the Quran, and if they do not, then their faith is called into question and they are counted among the hypocrites (9.44-45). If they do fight, they are promised one of two rewards, either spoils of war or heaven through martyrdom. Allah has made a bargain with the mujahid who obeys: Kill or be killed in battle, and paradise awaits (9.111).

Muslim thought leaders agree that the Quran promotes such violence. Maajid Nawaz, co-founder of the Quilliam Foundation in the United Kingdom, has said, “We Muslims must admit there are challenging Koranic passages that require reinterpretation today. … Only by rejecting vacuous literalism are we able to condemn, in principle, ISIS-style slavery, beheading, lashing, amputation & other medieval practices forever (all of which are in the Quran). … Reformers either win, and get religion-neutral politics, or lose, and get ISIL-style theocracy.” In other words, Muslims must depart from the literal reading of the Quran in order to create a jihad-free Islamic world.

It would be nice if all Muslims left the literal meaning of their sacred texts behind, and adopted peaceful interpretations. This would put them one step closer to their Abrahamic cousins, Jews and Christians. I fear, however, that this would not be enough. Neither Judaism, nor Christianity, even in their raw forms, promote violence to the extent that raw Islam does. the Torah calls for all-out war against peoples that no longer even exist. It calls for conquest of a small sliver of land in the Middle East, not conquest of the whole world.
Since there are “challenging Koranic passages that require reinterpretation,” I would suggest a simpler solution: Let Muslims convert to Buddhism. Many of their ancestors were Buddhists anyway – and they were forced into converting to Islam. This should be reversed. As far as I know, there’s nothing in Buddhist sacred texts that call for jihad, taxation of non-Buddhists, amputations, beheadings, slavery or world-conquest. Authentic Buddhism is an exceedingly wholesome philosophy.
Why is Islam, and religion in general, given a pass – even by atheists? Why is it legal to discriminate against an employee who chooses to sport the Confederate battle flag, but it’s not legal to discriminate against an employee who sports a yarmulke?  If the answer is that the latter considers his ideology to be sacred, and God-given, while the former is naught but personal conviction, then how do we (as a secular society) justify favoring one over the other?
I’ve written about this previously, but here I’d like to approach this matter from a different angle.
We can surmise that religion is part and parcel of one’s ethnic identity. Therefore, discriminating on the basis of religion is almost the same as discriminating on the basis of ethnic/racial background. Personally, I don’t think it should be illegal to discriminate on the basis of either, if you’re a private organization. While there might be a moral argument against treating people poorly based on something that’s out of their control, excluding certain types of people from one’s business or neighborhood is often a matter of safety; it’s irrelevant whether the excluded individuals are at fault or not. We don’t allow wild beasts to roam our streets, even though we don’t blame the beasts personally.
Is one’s religion out of his control? I’m beginning to think that, for most people, it is. It’s easy for flexible-minded people to assume that, since they can change their attitude with relative ease, so can everybody else. But I don’t think this is the case. After several decades of observing human behavior, I’m now convinced that most people lack the ability to break away from ideologies that were inculcated into them from an early age. From a practical point of view, the religious status of the masses is almost as immutable as their race. This is especially true of Muslims, because Islam tends to be pounded into the heads of children far more vigorously than most other religions.
I suspect that Muslim children are frequently, and vividly, told of the horrific punishments that await them should they leave the fold, and of the amazing rewards that will be theirs if they’re faithful. I suspect that these carrots and sticks are calculated to impress young people at their most visceral level. On a similar note, I’d like to share some of a newsletter I got from Avaaz:

After women were attacked on New Year’s Eve in Germany, a flood of racism and xenophobia spread. Refugee men responded by handing out flowers to women on the streets as a show of respect. To return the gesture and show solidarity and welcome, a hundred female Avaaz members went out to hand flowers back to refugees in Cologne, the site of the attacks. Their video went viral!

Achh, that stuff just lifts your heart doesn’t it?

No, it doesn’t “lift my heart.” It makes me sick. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if some of the same migrants who attacked women on New Years were also handing out flowers. It’s just another attempt to get into those women’s pants.
But even if those flower-migrants were sincere, if the rapefugees are only a small minority of migrants, then wouldn’t it be more respectful of native women to rein in the rapists and thugs, and form patrols to actually protect native women? If I were a woman, I’d much rather be protected from assault than given flowers. Or are they supposed to use those flowers to hit would-be rapists?
The Avaaz letter is insulting in the way it describes the New Years attacks. It fails to mention that it was migrants who were responsible for most of the attacks. It fails to mention that the attacks were on a massive scale, and coordinated. It fails to mention that the attacks have been ongoing for a long time, and continue to this day. And it fails to mention that these attacks are being perpetrated EVERYWHERE these migrants set foot, not just Cologne, and not just Germany. But hey, a few migrants gave flowers to native women – so it’s all okay, right?

Time to stop using Google

I know a lot of y’all ceased using Google a long time ago, due to its hateful policies toward whites. It would be nice if we could boycott every corporation that behaves in this manner, but since practically all of them are guilty of this, we must pick and choose.
This is Google’s “doodle” for today:

Here is what the Washington Post has to say about it:

JUST LAST month, Akilah Johnson was “surprised and overwhelmed” when she learned that she was a national finalist in the “Doodle 4 Google” contest for elementary through high school students.
Imagine how she feels now.
Akilah, a sophomore at Eastern Senior High School in Northeast Washington, has just been named Google’s big winner in the national contest, topping the 53 state and territory champions, whose work had been culled from about 100,000 student entries…
“As a child, I attended Roots [Public Charter School] and Roots [Activity Learning Center], so I was raised in the ‘Afrocentric lifestyle,’ ” Akilah told The Post, referring to educational institutions in Northwest Washington that tout “culturally relevant curriculum” and the aim to serve “the specific needs of children of African heritage.”
“One of my teachers from Roots, Baba Camera, is really [who] made me look at art in a different way,” Akilah said. “As I grew older, I … realized that the black people [who] came before us … made us into what we are today, so of course I had to include them in some way.” (“Of all the things I chose to include,” Akilah writes on Google’s site, “the six most special to me are the Symbol of Life [the ankh], the African continent, where everything began for me and my ancestors, the Eye of Horus, the word ‘power’ drawn in black, the woman’s fist based on one of my favorite artist’s works, and the D.C. flag — because I’m a Washingtonian at heart and I love my city with everything in me!”)

Apparently, those Afro-centric schools taught her that the ancient Egyptians were black, just like her. Obviously, this is not so. It’s interesting that the heroes she chose to highlight in her drawing include a terrorist (Mandela) and a mass rapist (Cosby). But Cosby can be forgiven; after all, the women he raped were almost exclusively white – which brings us to the issue of hate groups:
At their core, the black power symbol (the raised fist) is linked to the Black Panthers. According to Wikipedia:

The Anti-Defamation League, the Southern Poverty Law Center, and the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights consider the New Black Panthers to be a hate group.

There’s a “black lives matter” protest sign in the drawing as well. The Black Lives Matter movement has been linked to numerous violent crimes, has been involved in disruptions of other peoples’ freedom of assembly, has blockaded public highways and has explicitly excluded whites from their meetings. In other words, it’s a “hate group” if there ever was one – and this is what Google promotes.
Duckduckgo is a pretty good search engine. Maybe that’s what I should use from now on. Other suggestions are welcome.
