Surprise! South African Airways has a theft problem

As South Africa continues its downward spiral, we shouldn’t be shocked to learn about problems that continue to emerge.

In an article by Kwame Hagan, in Worldsfinestdestinations, we learn about luggage-handlers stealing items, and South African Airways’ lack of concern:

It is now evident to me that South African Airways (SAA), the national flag carrier and largest airline of South Africa, is the hub of real thieves who steal from its passengers without shame. And if you, unfortunately, become a victim of their habitual robbery, be prepared to be treated with gross disdain…

I quickly opened the bag to check if all my personal belongings were intact. To my utter dismay, my black Pierre Cardin suit, with its trouser, had been stolen. Not only that, but the baggage handling crew had also stolen my Tom Ford Private Blend fragrance – Tuscan Leather – and left the case in the bag. As to how they got to know there was a fragrance beneath my clothes in the bag still amazes me. This gives details to how deep they dug into my bag and how long the handling crew has been doing this.

Back to the issue of my suit, my fold-over garment bag which contained two white long sleeve shirts and two pairs of suits (Kenneth Cole and Pierre Cardin) was folded and put on top of my clothes in the bag. When they opened my checked baggage, they went a step further to open my fold-over garment bag and made away with one of the pair of suits, leaving the other suit and other flying ties behind…

From the many accounts I read online after my incident, this is not the first time a passenger on board South African Airways has experienced and reported an issue of this nature but it seems the operators of the airline do not give a hoot about the complaints of the passengers. This simply implies that South African Airways condones such act. Or could it be that that’s another source of revenue generation for the airline – stealing from passengers and possibly selling the stolen items?…

In Lusaka, I contacted the South African Airways office and lodged an official complaint. The lady I spoke to asked me to contact their department at the airport. I immediately did but the lady seemed totally unconcerned (even the hotel I booked was) – maybe she will indirectly benefit from the proceeds of my stolen items.

As word of this scandal spreads, it’s only natural that South African Airlines will eventually collapse – or be artificially propped up with government subsidies.

As fewer and fewer people patronize such corrupt South African institutions, it’s also inevitable that the blame will be laid at the feet of “racism.”

This is similar to the phenomenon of urban-American “food deserts,” where we’re told that quality grocery stores shy away from certain ethnic neighborhoods due to racism – even though we all know the actual reason is the high incidence of theft (robberies and shoplifting).

At this rate, South Africa will become a giant “business desert,” where few reputable companies dare do business – due to high levels of crime and corruption.

No need to worry about the Africans though; they can relocate to Europe or the US, where organizations such as HIAS, churches and an assortment of other NGOs will welcome them with open arms…

… so that the process can continue in Europe and America. This is why borders are important.

I experienced Diversity today (language warning)!

Yes, even in the western suburb of Hillsboro, we can enjoy the benefits of Diversity. I was outside a shop, and was able to capture the wonderful kumbaya song of love that so characterizes the interaction of Diverse People of Color in our progressive city.

Here, listen for yourself, as a large Hispanic man lovingly interacts with members of the local African American community. It’s so heartwarming!

Ayaan Hirsi Ali on the West, Dawa, and Islam

After watching the Hoover Institute interview with Ayaan Hirsi Ali, titled “Ayaan Hirsi Ali on the West, Dawa, and Islam,” I began to realize what a great ally this lady can be in our struggle for Western civilization – at least when it comes to Islam. She is brilliant.

Unfortunately, as we see at the very end of the video (40:20), she makes no distinction between “white-supremacy” and “white-nationalism.” She also agrees with Carl Popper that (12:20-12:24)…

popper1

popper

So, if white-nationalism = white-supremacy, and white-supremacy = intolerance, then white-nationalism should be illegal.

I don’t like that idea. It would be nice if Mrs. Hirsi could be educated in this matter. In any event, she motivated me to add another cognate to my previous post (Da’wa). Here’s the video:

Find the Cognate!

Much of Islam was taken from Judaism, and Hebrew and Arabic are closely related. It’s fun to compare the two languages, and I’ve done so in the past.

But this time, I’d like to focus on religious terms, working from Islam/Arabic to Judaism/Hebrew or Aramaic. Many of these cognates are obvious to those already familiar with these languages, others, not so much. Most of my readers are not familiar with Semitic languages, so I’ll preface with some basics.

It’s generally accepted that Proto-Semitic, the common ancestor of Hebrew, Arabic and Aramaic (as well as a host of other languages) was spoken around 6,000 years ago. The Semitic languages would have branched off from each other shortly thereafter.

Semitic languages form just one branch of the wider Afro-Asiatic language family, which also includes the Berber, Chadic, Cushitic, Egyptian and Omotic branches. Proto Afro-Asiatic was probably spoken sometime between 10,000 and 18,000 years ago.

Semitic languages, having been written since the dawn of recorded history, tend to be very conservative; a modern Arab could probably understand an Arab from the 6th century with some difficulty. Confronted with a Biblical Jew, it wouldn’t take very long for he and I to be able to understand each other. Obviously, there would be hurdles, but these hurdles wouldn’t be nearly as great as those faced by a modern American trying to converse with Chaucer.

Some of this conservatism applies to the wider Afro-Asiatic languages as well. I’ve discovered words in Somali (a Cushitic language) that closely match the Biblical Hebrew I’m familiar with. To the untrained ear, Somali sounds just like Arabic. Ancient Egyptian would have sounded very similar as well. However, It should be pointed out that it’s not the vocabulary that binds Afro-Asiatic languages together, but their structure and grammar – and even that is sometimes controversial.

When identifying cognates between Hebrew, Aramaic and Arabic, there are certain allowances that can be made. The 3 radicals, which make up a Semitic root, can sometimes change order. For example: ضرب / arab is “hit” in Arabic. In Hebrew, the root is רבּץ / Raba. That final S being a variant of the Arabic (same letter in Arabic, but without a dot on top). Sometimes, a guttural letter can be exchanged with another guttural letter, or a labial letter with another labial letter.

If we have to go back to pre-Semitic times (in other words, to Afro-Asiatic times) to find our cognate, letter replacements become more common. The Afar tribesmen of Ethiopia speak a Cushitic language. In their language, Afar means “dust” as their land is very dusty. In Hebrew, a similar word (עפר) means soil. Switch the initial guttural ‘Ayin to Alef, and we get אפר (efer), which means ash, but can also refer to dust.

Semitic languages place a lot of importance on double letters. In Hebrew, such a double letter has what is called a “dagesh” (דגש), while in Arabic, it’s called Shadda (الشدة). When you see “ll” or “kk,” for example, it means that the original is actually a double letter.

In most forms of Arabic, the letter جي (jim) is pronounced “j.” while in most forms of Hebrew, the equivalent גּ (gimel) is pronounced as a hard “g.” They’re the same letter. In comparing radicals, I simply used the letter G for both.

Between Hebrew and Arabic, the phonemes sh and s are interchangeable. For example, Arabic Shams (sun) is Shemesh in Hebrew. Hebrew Semol (left) is Shemal in Arabic. Arabic Ras (head) is Rosh in Hebrew and so on. Therefore, for simplicity, I used the letter S when comparing radicals.

It’s also worth noting that the letters P and F are the same letter in Hebrew, and that Arabic has no P; it always appears as F. They are interchangeable.

This is not an exhaustive list. Hopefully, readers will make more suggestions, which I’ll add as time goes by.

Allah (الله) –The Arabic word for “god.”

It seems to me that, as a euphemism, summoning, or inviting, one’s wife would work better. Common radicals D/ʕ. Alternately, the word De’ah (דעה) means opinion in Hebrew. In Aramaic, it’s Da’awan (דעון), which has all three radicals in common with Arabic: D/ʕ/W, the final N is not part of the root.

German government: Evil or stupid?

Germany’s birthrate is a mere 1.5 per woman. If we count only ethnic Germans, then that rate would surely be even lower – probably around 1.3 or 1.4.

In other words, a majority of Germans have either no children, or only one. Angela Merkel has no children.

Anybody who’s had more than one child can tell you that the best way to foster bad blood among siblings is to show favoritism toward one, while ignoring the others. I believe that, secretly, most parents do have a “favorite child,” but a GOOD parent treats them equally.

The decision-makers in the German government have no idea how to raise multiple children. They have no experience in such matters.

This would make them ignorant. Ignorant enough to support a year-long “Jewish History Month.” Yes, if you follow the link, it’s in Yahoo FINANCE. What are you trying to tell us Yahoo?

From the article:

Germany will launch a year-long campaign celebrating and explaining Jewish life and culture in 2021, in the face of what the Central Committee of Jews in Germany described as an “explosion of anti-Semitism” in the country.

The joint initiative by the Central Committee of Jews in Germany, Catholic, and Protestant churches, and other groups will include a broad variety of cultural and historical exhibitions about Jewish life and faith in the country as well as festivals, special postage stamps, and the production of a Jewish food guide…

Felix Klein, the government’s antisemitism commissioner, told journalists in Berlin on Tuesday that “Germany and Judaism belong together, and are a centuries-old, important pillar of our secular society.”

It’s true that the initiative comes from private organizations, but these organizations cannot issue postage stamps; only the government can do that; obviously, this has government support.

If I were a rabid, frothing, neo-Nazi Jew-hater, this initiative would make me very happy. What better way to encourage hatred toward an ethnic group than to give it special treatment, and place it on a pedestal?

From my experience, most of the anti-black sentiment, found in the US, stems from the same kind of treatment toward blacks. When the powers-that-be elevate one ethnic group over others, there’s going to be some resentment. In the US, this has been going on for at least 50 years, to one extent or another.

Jews are supposed to be smart, but maybe the “Central Committee of Jews in Germany” is comprised of leftist Jews – in other words, Jews who reside on the left side of the Bell Curve.

If so, then those Jews, their Christian, and government cohorts, are just plain stupid. I wouldn’t be surprised if some members of Germany’s government view it from a different angle. That would make it an alliance between dimwits and villains.

Bank of America hates white men

I just got back from a visit to my local Bank of America branch. Unfortunately, I must do business with them.

People got a bit jittery when I pulled out my cell phone, and started taking photos – but hey, photos for this blog won’t take themselves. Below are all of the posters displayed in the branch:

Black men? There are 2 of them, one of which is displayed twice, including prominently on the wall opposite the entrance.

White women? There are 2 of them. One on the exit, and one on the standing display in the center of the branch.

Hispanic women? There’s one at a teller station.

The two men, who might pass as “white,” are accompanied with Spanish text – informing us that they’re actually “Hispanic.”

Not a single unambiguous white man on display… and (oops) not a single black woman either! And no Asians!! Of course, my area is about 80% white, while black females are barely represented. To omit white men here would be like omitting black men in a Detroit branch. Could you imagine the uproar? Bank of America would never hear the end of such a scandalous thing – yet it’s perfectly okay to omit white men.

What’s sad is that hundreds of white people pass through their doors every day, and I’m probably the only one to notice.

The Diversity Pie is a zero-sum game. There are only so many resources to go around; only so much space in a local branch to show us how “progressive” Bank of America is – while trying to avoid looking completely ridiculous. It’s a balancing act, I’m sure.

They could have sacrificed one of the black men for a black woman, one of the Hispanic men for an Asian woman, and one of the white women for an Asian man. That would have covered all of their bases – but at the risk of looking like a walk-in National Geographic magazine. Also, what about transgendered people, and those who are “differently-abled?”

So they can’t possibly include every demographic. They must prioritize. I wish I were a fly on the wall at one of their meetings, but let’s consider which demographics are most likely to riot, or boycott, if they feel slighted.

White men haven’t rioted (as “white men”) in the US anytime in recent years, nor are there any organizations representing them that have official recognition – so they don’t need to represent white men.

Black women  seem to fall under the general category of generic “women” for most purposes. But racially speaking, American blacks are, by default, represented by males. Lip service is sometimes given to black women, but unless we’re dealing with specifically female issues (such as hair styles, beauty or fashion/body image), the powers-that-be don’t care much about black women – as the case in point illustrates. Black women will, of course, sometimes be used to kill two birds with one stone: Female and black.

Asians are still a small demographic, who don’t have much political clout. They don’t riot, and their “liberal bona fides” are still linked to their concern for blacks and Hispanics, since Asians actually earn more than whites. There will be no serious backlash if Asians are left out.

As for transgendered people, I fully expect (and predict) that their mugs will soon show up at banks, especially in the Portland area. It’s true that they’re few in number, but they make a lot of noise, and they have many allies.

I’ll point out that Bank of America doesn’t hate ALL white men; it you’re a RICH white man, you might even end up on their Board of Directors:

boa board of directors

Followup: I just got a survey request from BOA. This is what I wrote in comments:

Could you imagine having a branch in Detroit, or Washington DC, and not having African American men represented on any of your store displays? Our area is about 80% white, and not a single display depicts a white man – with the possible exception of two, which are titled in Spanish. Please be more inclusive.

It wouldn’t surprise me if they close my account after reading this.

Washington County pushing more Diversity

Residents of Washington County, Oregon have received emails including a draft resolution from the county, and a survey.

Here is the first part of the resolution:

Whereas, the government of Washington County is of and for all the people of Washington County; and

Whereas, Washington County is one of the most racially and ethnically diverse counties in the State of Oregon, and this diversity fuels innovation and supports robust communities and a rich cultural life in the County, the State of Oregon, and the nation; and

Whereas, areas and regions of the country that are more racially and ethnically diverse enjoy stronger economies – and often, better social and health outcomes – than those that are less diverse; and

Whereas, we, the Washington County Board of Commissioners, recognize Oregon’s and America’s long history of racial discrimination, and the many barriers in our County that impede diversity, equity, and inclusion; and

Whereas, Washington County residents of color, on average, experience higher rates of poverty and unemployment, and have lower median incomes, than the County’s White, non-Hispanic residents; and the 2018 “Leading with Race” report from the Coalition of Communities of Color noted, among other findings, that:

• Lenders in Washington County are more likely to reject home-loan applications from high income African Americans and Latinos 86% and 125% respectively, compared to those from high-income White (non-Hispanic) home loan applicants.

• 68% of Native American single mothers with children are in poverty in Washington County, a rate even higher than the national poverty rate of 48% for Native American single mothers.

• Despite these and other challenges, racial and ethnic communities in Washington County continue to build and nourish thriving families, businesses, and neighborhoods; and Whereas, these inequities can and must be addressed as Washington County has a moral and legal responsibility to provide all its residents with equitable access to the County’s public resources;

The full text of the resolution can be found here.

One of the first things that springs to mind is the very existence of a “Coalition of Communities of Color,” and the fact that such a coalition is given authority when it comes to matters of governance. Was there any input from the “Coalition of White Communities?” Of course not; such a coalition wouldn’t be recognized, assuming it was even allowed to exist. This illustrates the fact that it’s white people who are marginalized, not “people of color.”

Needless to say, the resolution did not provide any evidence that such Diversity actually does “create stronger economies.” I have sent an email to the contact person, asking for the source/evidence. If there’s a response, I’ll post it.

The email was sent out both in English and in Spanish, and there is no citizenship requirement to fill out the survey. Here’s the first page of the survey:

survey1

The survey can be found here. As far as I can tell, there is no prohibition against random people, from anywhere in the world, identifying as a Washington County “community member” or “other.” Needless to say, I did fill out the survey, and politely pointed out that many poor white people fall through the cracks, and that there are no government agencies whose job is to specifically look out for them.

It sickens me to think that even more of my tax money is going to be spent supporting the false god of Diversity. Dear readers, you have the links. Thank you.

Interesting Quora discussion

Here’s an interesting conversation I participated in on Quora. I hope y’all enjoy it:

Scott Wallace

“There is nothing American about immigration”. Are you frikkin kidding. If there was no immigration there would be no white people here. Zip. Nada. None.

The white people who founded this country were not immigrants; they didn’t immigrate to any specific country. Rather, they founded their OWN country. They were PIONEERS, not immigrants.

Well, this may be true, and held true between the declaration and the recognition by the English. Once that was signed, any new people who arrived in America were immigrants. By your logic, the only people who are not immigrants are the people who can claim direct ancestry to that founding population.

Which is of course bollocks.

Just be honest, that belief, and the one against immigration of non whites is racism, pure and simple.

Reuben Hayat

The European immigrants, who came afterwards, did not demand ESL programs, they did not disproportionately use social services, they did not agitate for large swaths of the US to be ceded to another country (as in Aztlan to Mexico). They did not fly the flags of their respective countries of origin. They did all they could to learn English quickly, and to become completely American. All this is a far cry from what we have today with immigrants/migrants from Latin America.

Craig Nunn

All you say is true. Its racist regardless. I also don’t have much to argue against Mr Jetts argument, he is correct in all but what can be done about it. That ship has sailed, its already too late. Close your borders, its going to delay the inevitable by a decade or two. The only viable alternative is really to re-institute the programs of ethnic cleansing that has been practiced before in the US, just on a larger scale. I’m pretty sure your immigration problem would likewise be solved….hardly anyone would ever want to go to a country that did that.

The inadequacy of the English language

Of all the thousands of languages, English is considered to have the richest vocabulary – and yet, it’s inadequate when it comes to accurately describing current events.

Consider the “Migrant Crisis” for example, or the ongoing immigration policies of Western countries. Here’s a situation where official governments allow (or even invite) vast numbers of foreigners into their respective countries, with the intention of reducing the native population to minority status.

Let’s examine some of the words used to describe the “migrants” to Europe:

Migrant. Merriam-Webster defines it as “a person who moves regularly in order to find work especially in harvesting crops.” The implication is that said migrant will return home after the work is done; his arrival, and departure, is seasonal.

We all know that most of the “migrants” to Europe have no intention of ever returning home. Furthermore, the term “migrant” implies that it’s a harmless phenomenon; it does not imply any sort of demographic threat.

Refugee. M.W. defines it as “a person who flees to a foreign country or power to escape danger or persecution.” Again, the implication is that the refugee will return home after the danger has passed.

We all know that most of the “refugees” have no intention of ever returning home. Furthermore, the term “refugee” implies that said person is a harmless victim, whose fate is at the mercy of the host country, whose population suffers little, or no, harm from his presence.

We have witnessed, over and over again, that the presence of these “refugees” is indeed harmful to native populations. This has given rise to the term:

Rapefugee. Oddly enough, Merriam-Webster does not recognize this word. Recognized or not, this term is useful for describing the criminal element that accompanies such groups of people. Unfortunately, it’s not good enough for us; even if every single one of the “refugees” was law-abiding and respectful, they still pose a demographic threat, and they have no right to be in Europe. The use of this term carries with it an implication that, if only they were peaceful, we would be okay with it. This is not the message we should be sending.

Economic-Refugee. M.W. does not recognize this term, but Wikipedia has this to say about it:  “Although the term economic migrant is often confused with the term refugeeeconomic migrants leave their regions primarily due to harsh economic conditions, not fear of persecution on the basis of race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or membership of a particular social group.”

Will they go home once things have improved? Unlikely, unless conditions in their home countries become equal, or better, than in their host country. Additionally, this term doesn’t take into account the fact that the ruling class of the host country is using them as a demographic/political tool. It implies that such a migration is simply “something that naturally happens” – and it DOES naturally happen. But, in our case, the migrants are encouraged to come, so that they can serve other, nefarious, purposes. When borders are ignored, NGOs provide ships, and Mediagov covers up their crimes, then the term “economic-refugee” is inadequate to describe such players.

Economic-Migrant. Again, M.W. does not recognize this term, but Wikipedia has this to say about it: “An economic migrant is someone who emigrates from one region to another, including crossing international borders, seeking an improved standard of living, because the conditions or job opportunities in the migrant’s own region are insufficient. The United Nations uses the term migrant worker.”

In other words, the situation in the home country is not as dire as in the case of an economic refugee. There are simply not enough jobs.

It’s a well-known fact that most of the “migrants” in Europe don’t have jobs, and many are not even interested in jobs. They live comfortably enough from taxpayer-funded welfare programs. As such, most of them are parasites.

But even if all of these “migrants” were willing to make an honest living, they must still be sent home; they’re still tools of a hostile elite. Their presence still poses a demographic threat.

Invader. M.W. defines it as a person who “enters for conquest or plunder.”

This term is popular on the political right. Unfortunately, it carries a lot of historical baggage, and implies a military invasion specifically. Historically, the term has not been used to describe masses of unarmed people waltzing over borders.

Another problem with this term is that it implies that the invaders arrive to overthrow an existing government, and to install their own. In our case, the existing government ENCOURAGE their arrival. If we view the native population as a political entity in its own right, then it would be accurate to describe this influx as an invasion – since it’s certainly a violation of the autonomy of the native peoples.

If we’re speaking of the Islamic aspect of this influx, then it would certainly fit the definition of “invasion,” since many Muslims have explicitly stated that their move to Europe is to conquer it. Also, the leaching of government funds can be considered “plunder.” Taxpayers didn’t willingly give up their hard-earned Euros in order to support invaders… on second thought, some of them probably did.

What about non-Muslim “migrants?” They come for easy benefits, for jobs, for white women or for more freedom. But they still have no right to be there. They still pose a demographic threat. Whether they’re technically “invaders” or not, their presence, in large numbers, spells doom for Europe. If allowed to remain, Native Europeans will become extinct.

Immigrant. M.W. defines it as “a person who comes to a country to take up permanent residence.”

As stated, most of these “migrants” do intend to “take up permanent residence.” But this term makes no distinction between a small, assimilable, group of people and an enormous influx of unassimilable people who will eventually overwhelm the native population.

Additionally, the term “immigrant” assigns all of the volition to the “immigrant.” It completely ignores the other side of the equation: The hostile elites of the host country, who believe they’ll benefit from such an influx. They play an active role in this, and the term we use should reflect this.

Asylum seeker. M.W. does not recognize this term, but the BBC, in a 1995 article about this very same topic, says it… “refers to someone who has applied for refugee status and is waiting to hear the result of their claim.

Again, this term assigns all volition to the “asylum seeker,” and none to the hostile elites of the host country. It also fails to take the demographic threat into consideration.

Undocumented migrant. This term, suggested by the above BBC article, is too sanitary; we can lump it in with “undocumented immigrant” as part of the Left’s useless euphemisms.

People have been moving around since before we were even human, and much of that movement has been involuntary.

The Assyrians pioneered the tactic of forced resettlement toward various ends. From Ha’aretz:

During the mid-eight century B.C.E., the Assyrians under the leadership of Tiglath-Pileser III grew in all directions. Order was maintained in the realm by means of a program of mass deportation and transplantation of conquered peoples.

More recently, Stalin imposed forcefully deported many peoples in the Soviet Union. If not for the fall of the Soviet Union, Estonians and Latvians would might have become minorities in their own lands. From Wikipedia:

Immediately after the war, a major influx from other USSR republics primarily of ethnic Russians took place in the Baltic states as part of a de facto process of Russification

In Latvia and Estonia, less was done to slow down Russian immigration. By the 1980s Russians made up about third of the population in Estonia, while in Latvia, ethnic Latvians made up only about half of the population. In contrast, in 1989 only 9.4% of Lithuania’s population were Russians.

To the best of my knowledge, however, never before in human history has a representative government intentionally reduced its own native population to minority status.

Now that this is happening, throughout the West, it’s no wonder that we don’t have a word to describe the people whose importation brings this about.

I do have one suggestion, and please feel free to submit your own in comments:

Pawnigrant. This refers somebody who willingly migrated to a foreign country, with no intention of returning to his homeland, who is one of a multitude, and whose arrival is supported by a local hostile elite toward a large-scale economic, political, or demographic, goal.

Leftists eating their own

A couple of days ago, we were treated to Stephen King getting slammed for suggesting that quality is more important than Diversity. The horror! From Yahoo People:

Stephen King is facing some heat for a tweet in response to the mostly white 2020 Oscar nominations.

After the list of nominees was announced early Monday morning, Twitter was quickly up in arms over the lack of diversity, with Cynthia Erivo listed as the only person of color in the acting categories.

King, an Academy member, entered the online discussion, explaining how he votes on the nominees.

“As a writer, I am allowed to nominate in just 3 categories: Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Original Screenplay. For me, the diversity issue–as it applies to individual actors and directors, anyway–did not come up. That said…” King wrote in the first tweet.

“…I would never consider diversity in matters of art. Only quality. It seems to me that to do otherwise would be wrong,” he said in the second.

Of course, King’s original tweet was correct; we should strive for excellence, not for Diversity, and awards should be given based on accomplishments, not on race or gender. If King were a real man, he would have laughed in their faces, and shrugged of such criticism. But he’s a wimp who allows mere tweets to intimidate him – and he’s wealthy enough that he doesn’t need anybody.

Yesterday, I read an article from Common Dreams, attacking CNN:

CNN Is Truly a Terrible Influence on This Country’: Democratic Debate Moderators Pilloried for Centrist Talking Points and Anti-Sanders Bias

“This is an unusually vile performance by CNN,” tweeted Rolling Stone contributing editor Matt Taibbi.

Critics of the corporate media as well as supporters and staffers of Sen. Bernie Sanders’ campaign blasted the moderators of the CNN/Des Moines Register Democratic presidential debate Tuesday night for employing centrist talking points and demonstrating a bias against Sanders in how they framed questions…

As Common Dreams reported, the financial burden of deploying American forces was notably absent during first part of the debate—a lengthy discussion on foreign policy and war—but the moderators did ask candidates about the costs of implementing Medicare for All healthcare, as Sanders has proposed. That contrast, and the presentation of the healthcare questions, sparked swift condemnation from progressives.

Overall, a team of Rolling Stone writers called the debate moderators’ questions “mystifyingly inane.” In a piece titled “CNN Completely Botched the Democratic Presidential Debate,” HuffPost‘s Zach Carter called them “awful.” According to him, the debate on the whole was “tedious, interminable, frivolous… a fiasco of irrelevance held three weeks before the Iowa caucuses.”

“Again and again, CNN anchors substituted centrist talking points for questions―and then followed up predictable responses with further centrist talking points, rarely illuminating any substantive disagreements between the candidates or problems with their policy positions,” he wrote…

They may have a point, that CNN is biased against Sanders…

… but it makes me wonder, just how far left would CNN have to go to satisfy the likes of Common Dreams?

Common Dreams describes itself thusly:

We share our readers’ progressive values of social justice, human rights, equality and peace. Common Dreams is committed to not only being your trusted news source, but to encouraging critical thinking and civic action on a diverse range of social, economic, and civil rights issues affecting individuals and their communities.

I found the ethnic makeup of their “Views” staff interesting. From what I could tell, it’s comprised of:

2 Hispanics

9 whites

4 probable Jews

4 Mid Easterners/ South Asians (including Ralph Nader)

Oh, and there’s ONE black woman.

Is this what “America looks like” according to progressives? At least they got the gender ratio almost right: Nine of the twenty are female.
