Women in our movements

When I say “our movements”, I am referring to the libertarian movement and the pro-white movement.  Libertarians have taken the deficiency of women in their ranks seriously.  We need women in order to make lots of little libertarian babies – oh, and sometimes those women can contribute to our cause in other ways too.  Here is an interview with Allison Gibbs by Tim Cavanaugh.  Yes, Cavanaugh bobs his head too much and this is annoying, nevertheless it’s a good interview:

The pro-white movement could certainly use women like Gibbs.  Those who orchestrate the massive anti-white propaganda campaign are well aware that women are the soft underbelly of the white race.  Women care, far more than men, about being trendy and fashionable so, as long as white is depicted as the opposite of trendy and fashionable, many women will fall for it.  It has been said countless times already, but I’ll say it again: The pro-white movement needs to put on a happy face and be more positive in order to attract women.  Happy and positive are always trendy and fashionable.
I have always suspected that the ancient Jewish sages, when they saw that the people of Israel were about to become vulnerable minorities in a vast diaspora, knew that Jewish women would be the most likely targets of our enemies.  This is why they decided that it would be the mother whose lineage determines Jewish identity.  Of course there would have been other factors as well – the fact that the mother is usually the one actually raising the child and the fact that the mother’s identity is almost always known.  Unfortunately, whites cannot simply decree that a white mother is all one needs to be fully white.  Not with any credibility.
In our own times, Islam is being spread in Europe primarily via its women.  Just as blacks in America assault the white race on two fronts, miscegenation with white women and assault against them, so too are Muslims in Europe using these two tactics at the same time – though not always by the same men.   If European peoples are to survive, their women need protection within a strong and nurturing living ethnic identity.  Since the fall of Christianity in Europe, there is no such identity any longer.  To fill the vacuum, we have an unimpeded invasion by Africans and Muslims.  They do have strong cultures and belief systems, and women are attracted to this.  Women are not attracted to weakness.  The only way Europe can project strength is to take pride in its own heritage.  Since the concept of “nationality” has been usurped by statists, who have reduced it to a piece of paper, Europeans must define themselves otherwise.  They cannot define themselves by culture; “culture” can mean almost anything.  Is a Frenchman who refuses to eat Escargot no longer French?  What about a Brit who roots for the wrong sports team?  This leaves race as the only reasonable trait that Europeans can use to define themselves.  It is also the only one directly given to them by Mother Nature.  In short, “heritage” means race.  The only way Europe can save itself is for white nationalism to become mainstream.  The recruitment of women to this cause is crucial to its survival.  But the traditional role of women, as submissive, does not work in our favor here.
One irony of this situation is that the feminist movement, which generally plays the role of villain, has also emboldened women to take leading roles and to assert themselves against the mainstream.  Feminism has, to a certain degree, made women more like men.  This can work in our favor.  The anti-white mainstream is so firmly entrenched that only the most independent thinkers can break free of it.  Though many women only fool themselves into thinking they are as free-thinking as men, some actually are.  Not nearly enough, to be sure, but it is a start.  I think, as the reality of rape statistics and abuse become more widely known, more and more middle-of-the-road feminists will start to take their blinders off.  One can hope.

Should incest be illegal?

Hobbes, of scragged.com, asked a fairly good question:

Reuters brings us news of a most revolting sort:

A Columbia University professor has been arrested on charges of having sexual relations with his daughter, officials said on Friday.
David Epstein, 46, a political science professor at the Ivy League school, faces one count of incest in the third degree, according to a complaint filed by the Manhattan District Attorney’s office.
He had relations with his daughter, now 24, from 2006 through 2009, the complaint said. Epstein was released on his own recognizance after appearing before a judge on Thursday.

People on both sides of the political aisle can unite in condemnation of Prof. Epstein’s behavior.  After all, is not “incest” cited as one of those situations, right up there with “rape,” which is used to justify the right to abortion?  Committing incest is one of those acts so far beneath contempt as to be unworthy of defense.
But wait!  Look again at the specifics given in the article: Prof. Epstein’s daughter and accused incestuous lover is now 24, and the alleged relationship began in 2006.
Simple subtraction reveals a starting fact: The incestuous lovers were consenting adults.
For the world’s liberal elites, and especially at Ivy League far-leftist bastions like Columbia, there is one and only one question permitted when judging the acceptability of any sexual practice no matter how perverse or reprobate: Were the participants consenting?  Some professors even defend the ability of children to consent to sex; nobody questions the ability of 21-year-olds to make their own sexual choices.
On what grounds, therefore, can Prof. Epstein even be criticized, much less imprisoned?  Should not government stay out of consenting adult’s bedrooms?

It is a good question because incest is, after all, illegal.  Furthermore, consenting adults really should be allowed to do as they please within their home.  It is not clear to me why Hobbes directs his question at “liberals” and not at libertarians.  After all, liberals have not been battling nearly as much to do away with intrusive laws as left libertarians.
As for me, it seems clear that some things are reprehensible and abominable – but this does not automatically mean they should be illegal.  It is not the responsibility of government to pass, or enforce, laws regarding sexual morality – except (and here I am defining “government” broadly) when there are actual victims.  In this case, it appears there were no victims.
There are many sexual acts that some would consider incompatible with civilized society, while others would consider them unworthy of any attention whatsoever.  In the final analysis, no absolute consensus can ever be gained – and we should revert to the default position that moral judgments are up the the individuals involved.
Should it be illegal for a 57 year old man to date a 17 year old girl (in a nation where 17 is above the age of consent)?  A father in Germany thinks so.  But before you object that 17 is, in fact, below the age of consent in much of the U.S., ask yourself it if would truly have been different had the girl been a few days older.  If you were the father, would you then have refrained from castrating the boyfriend?  Homosexual unions are illegal in many parts of the world, and were illegal in the U.S. until recently.  “The Law” should only be used to protect those who cannot defend themselves.  Otherwise, it is simply a tool for one group of people to impose its morality upon another.
I have already made clear my position regarding crimes against society (in my treatise “Reflections of a Racist Father“).  even so, I do not believe that miscegenation should be illegal; it should be condemned by society.  In the absence of pro-miscegenation propaganda and forced integration, the practice would be rare enough that it would not be a threat to our civilization.  Likewise, incest poses no threat to our civilization.
What about the product of such a perverse union?  Unless we wish to engage in enforcement of “pre-crime“, it is not the responsibility of any coercive agency to punish people such as the above professor and his daughter – until, and unless, such offspring are born.  If, hypothetically, there were a couple that insisted on producing mutated inbreds, then the responsibility of separating them would fall upon their extended family or village.  Not upon government agency.  This is because the burden of supporting such offspring would fall, morally, upon the immediate community.  Since morality dictates that they should not stand by and watch the mutant children suffer, that same morality would give them the right to prevent their birth in the first place.  Jared Taylor uses this line of reasoning, regarding welfare, in his book “Paved with Good Intentions“.
When it comes to behaviors such as incest, there can be no position that both passes rational muster and satisfies the sensibilities of all political persuasions; it is a distasteful practice and a distasteful subject.  Any meaningful stance, regarding it, will be met with impassioned objections.  But, for what it’s worth, this is my opinion.

Heritability and the extremes of intelligence

It is difficult to fathom, but some people believe that intelligence is determined strictly by nurture.  These people subscribe to the belief that nature conveniently packaged all its creatures into neat categories and that our category, called “human”, has no meaningful variation when it comes to inherent intelligence.
But even according to the above doctrine, if a person is mentally retarded due to a genetic defect, for example a mongoloid*, then this would be an exception.  Barring genetic defects, all the rest of us are subject only to the accidents of nurture when it comes to the power of our intellect.
What about the other side of the Bell Curve?  A 13 year old Oregon girl, Kristin Qian, is blessed with an intellect most of us could hardly even dream of (from The Oregonian 12/12/2010):

… At one and a half, Kristin learned to read; at two, she had her first solo painting exhibition, at Portland French School.  At three, possessing perfect pitch, she could sing any theme she heard,  At four, she performed in her first violin concert; at five, she won a national piano competition.  The same year, she had her first composition published in a national magazine…
… She won her first local piano competition at eight; at ten, she became the youngest finalist at the Turech International Piano Competition in New York City.  Also at ten, her book of poems and illustrations, “The Silly Monkey World”, was published…
… She teaches violin, speaks six languages and won a Rubik’s Cube contest in sixth grade.  Three years ago, she surprised her parents and dazzled her classmates at Oregon Episcopal School in a pi competition where contestants tried to recite as many digits of the never-ending decimal as they could… After preparing for half an hour, Kristin rattled off 500.
How does she do it? Is it innate?  Genetic?  Nurtured by parents?
Who knows?  Prodigious talent remains a mystery.

Is The Oregonian seriously suggesting that any child can learn to read by age one and a half – if only her parents nurture her the right way?  I nurtured my children very well (so they tell me), but none of them came anywhere close to Kristin.  Perhaps the author of this article, David Stabler, appreciates the absurdity of attributing such genius to good upbringing and, therefore, allows that it might by genetic.  Clearly, Stabler is one of those people I described at the beginning of this post.  In this case, reality threw a real-life ad absurdum objection to his convictions and he wavered.  Still, he would rather leave it “a mystery” than admit the obvious.  Perhaps he realizes that once we admit that genius is hereditary, the genie is out of the bottle and some people might conclude that finer differences in intelligence are also hereditary.  So he would rather let his readers believe that some sort of magical, mystical power is responsible for Kristin’s abilities.
I’ll be the first to admit, I am not as smart as Kristin.  But it is difficult for me to understand how people can believe that genes only influence intelligence at the extremes.  How would they explain this?  Do they claim that anybody with an I.Q. under 70, or over 140 is a product of his genes – but everybody in between must only answer to his environment?  What an odd proposition!  Perhaps, some day, we can ask Kristin herself.
* I find the term “Down’s Syndrome” too negative so I prefer the term “mongoloid”.

Sports and the promotion of the black male

There is little doubt that most sports fans do not think of their favorite athletes as “black men” or “white men”.  Instead, they think of them as athletes.  Only if an incident of some sort comes up, would the race of their athletes ever come to the forefront of their minds.  Of this I am fairly certain.
But their subconscious knows.  Whether by design or by mere chance, sports is one of the main venues for the idolization of blacks in the Western world.  Without realizing it, the fan’s subconscious mind learns to equate all the good things that sports is supposed to embody with the images of black men – even if, on the conscious level, he is fully aware of the personal shortcomings of those athletes.  Each home run, or goal or touchdown imprints an image in the mind.
Generations of indoctrination have trained whites, with varying degrees of success, to pay attention to the race of a non-white – but to completely ignore the race of a white.  A white man is “he who has no race”.  But, in the case of some celebrities, their heroic roles override and cover up their race in the (conscious) eyes of their fans.  With celebrities, there is no fear of saying the wrong thing, offending them, appearing “racist” or being insensitive – because there is rarely any personal contact.  While the fame, and reputation, of some non-white celebrities rests upon their race (in politics, this is usually the case), in sports it is ability alone that gives the celebrity his fame – at least in theory.  And “ability knows no color”.  So it is both safe and ideal for the fan to ignore the race of his athletes – but his subconscious knows.
This type of conditioning would occur naturally, even without extra effort from the media.  The sports cult is powerful enough that it is now self-perpetuating.  Nevertheless, the media maximizes every opportunity to promote blacks (especially black males) to the public.  It does so in insidious ways and I have already cited examples of this in other posts.  Burying their Afro-centric message amongst other, more legitimate messages, is one tactic they use.
Here is an example or two, or more, messages being conveyed by the same image.   I wrote one possible subliminal message on top and yes, I admit I may be reading too much into it – but I can have my fun, can I not?

Recollections of the shtetl

My late Uncle Carl (who I wrote of earlier regarding his work with the blind) was born in a small town in Latvia in 1906.  When I was younger, I asked him to write what he remembered of his early years, before his arrival to America in 1913.  When I was a child, asking such questions, the overall mentality was that the old country was best forgotten; that it is better to focus on the present and strive to fulfill the American Dream.  As I grew up, that attitude was in the process of transforming into one of nostalgia coupled with the fact that even the elders of our family were already fully American.  There is nothing un-American about learning of one’s heritage and researching one’s genealogy.  I do not claim that my uncle’s recollections contain any Earth-shattering historical revelations or even that there is anything unique in them – but they are the only such recollections preserved from anyone in my family.  So here they are:

What gave rise to the revolution?  The oppression by the czar and his officers.  The injustice, the poverty and the lack of sympathetic understanding of the needs of the common people.  When people could not get relief from the government, they got some relief by talking about their problems.  This was forbidden by the government so the people met in little groups, in secret.
I remember when I was about 4 years old hearing such discussions among my elders in a group at our house, one night.  I remember dusty streets and wooden, unpainted houses clustered together.  I remember that a pail of water had to be bought with a coupon from a central pump in the city.  I remember a park with a bandstand.  There was a fence around the park and railroad tracks on the other side of the fence.  We all gathered along the fence when that wonderful thing, the hissing, whistling train came by each day.  I remember a man with several rings of bagels around his neck outside the park.  We bought one for a penny when we could get a penny from mother.
This was a village or town called “Dvinsk” in Latvia.  One of the first countries taken by the Soviets.  Dvinsk was on the Dvina River.  There was an army barracks nearby.
With mother in Dvinsk before we went to Libau to board the ship for Liverpool, England and then on to New York and then finally to Detroit were brother Yitzchak (5) and brother Yosele (4) and myself, Kasriel (7)  KAGON – COHEN – KAHAN CARL.

Our Hebrew Heritage

I remember being taken to a small Synagogue when a youngster holding my grandfather by the hand, or nestling close to his large tallis as he sang (chanted) his prayers.  Later, about five years of age I remember sitting in a classroom learning Hebrew – the Alphabet, the stories of the holidays and why they were chosen and what they represented.  My teacher was my maternal grandfather.  He was also the sexton (assistant rabbi) of the Synagogue.

In Winter with snow on the ground, I remember walking at night to the classroom in the Synagogue holding a candle lantern, glass, 4 sided lit the snow as I walked along.

A Visit

A visit one Summer to a DACHE – a little resort out into the country outside of Dvinsk where there were cottages rented out during the Summer – was very important to my future (as I see it now).

The country was very interesting, with marshes, and canals, and many kinds of plants & trees and flowers.

It so enthralled me and satisfied me that many years later when I was faced, after high school graduation and one year in college, to make up my mind as to a career for the future, I turned to the profession of agriculture.

Anti Semites in the Shtetl

As a child there was little contact with the gentiles.  In fact, we were protected from it for safety reasons.

The adults also had just a minimum of contact.  Usually when buying the necessary food or services.  Here they would not have feared contact so much except that there was a constant feeling of self consciousness and a feeling of a sense of oppression.

I wanted to point out that the Jews of Dvinsk would have been aware of the horrifying pogroms that were taking place elsewhere in the Pale of Jewish settlement in Eastern Europe.  So, even though my uncle did not experience any persecution himself, it is certainly understandable that there would have been an atmosphere of foreboding; those were turbulent times.  His recollections fit in very well with other accounts of that era:

In Dvinsk, there were no pogroms; but in 1904, in response to the brutal pogroms in Kishinev, Bialystok, and several other cities, (“these pogroms hung like a pall of doom above the heads of the people of Dvinsk and elsewhere”) a mass demonstration, its participants singing a funeral march for the victims of the pogroms, was attacked by police and soldiers as it reached the Old Park.  Strikes were now forbidden; meetings were forbidden, initiating a period of raids, arrests, assassinations, spies and counterspies.  Many Dvinsk Jews began to emigrate to the United States.

That account goes on to relate how the years 1906-1911 were even more tense.  It makes me wonder how long the relative tranquility we currently enjoy in America will last.  The forces of evil are doing everything in their power to bring civil unrest here too.  It is anybody’s guess how this will unfold but, if the events of the early 20th century Russian Empire are any indication, it will not lead to a better world.

Sex ratio and average I.Q.

The normal state of affairs, in human society, is for males to compete for females.  The fact that more boys than girls are born (in every society) serves to intensify this competition.  Though there is a tendency for excess boys to die off through war and rivalry, this only underscores the fact the the fittest males tend to be the ones who survive and reproduce.
When we look at world sex ratios, it becomes clear that low ratios (i.e. less of a predominance of boys over girls) are concentrated in sub-Saharan Africa.  When examining such tables, it is important to consider the overall size of a population along with age distribution.  For example, Granada only has 90,000 people and Lichtenstein only 34,000.  Furthermore, 12% of the latter’s population is over 65; there are always more females than males amongst the elderly.
In contrast, China is heavily skewed toward males.  My understanding is that this has been the case historically as well.  India, on the other hand has, historically, been more balanced.  Female infanticide was practiced mainly among the higher castes because higher caste females were not permitted to work outside the family.  This was not the case among the lower castes, where women were required to work just like the men.
Sex ratios in Europe are similar to those in sub-Saharan Africa.  It seems to me that the underlying causes are different.  Modern Europe has a low sex ratio because of modernization and gender equality.  Sub-Saharan Africa has a low sex ratio mainly because more girls are born to begin with.  It is known that Medieval Europe (or, at least parts of Europe) had a very high sex ratio, sometimes as high as 253 men for every 100 women.  Some have suggested female infanticide as a possible explanation.
When we look at these historical trends, scant as they are, and compare them to average I.Q.’s, a pattern emerges.  When men have easy access to women over long periods of time, the average I.Q. of that population would fall.  This does not bode well for modern Western society and it goes hand in hand with the backwardness of Africa.
What about American blacks?  Blacks in America do not live in an isolated reproductive community.  If they did, then it is likely that their average I.Q. would match that of sub-Saharan Africa (plus whatever European contribution they happen to have).  Currently there is an artificial premium on black males.  At the same time, countless non-black females are available to them – thus intensifying competition among black females for black males.   Hence there is practically no selective pressure, among American blacks, for higher I.Q. in finding mates.  On the contrary, there is selective pressure for lower I.Q. in reproducing; higher I.Q. blacks will tend to have less children, just like their white and Asian counterparts.
My prediction?  White I.Q.’s are likely to stagnate.  Chinese and Indian I.Q.’s will surge.  American black I.Q. will plummet.  Of course, India is unlikely to maintain its current anti-female practices for long; social unrest might force drastic changes before any I.Q.-boosting evolution can take place.  The same is true for China, except that China has maintained this pattern for centuries, so its higher I.Q. is already a fait accompli.
As for sub-Saharan Africa, things will only get worse.  As more intelligent African men migrate out of Africa, only the dullest will remain – and these remaining men will be like roosters in the hen house.  The only way to prevent such a scenario would be to rapidly make African societies more attractive for successful men.  This can only happen from within.  African leaders have their work cut out for them.

Conspiracy theory and race-realism

I just finished watching “Conspiracy Theory” with Jesse Ventura.  It features, among others, Alex Jones of Prison Planet and I have always liked to think that things are not as bad as Jones says they are.  I also wonder, sometimes, how much of what he says falls under the category of “entertainment” rather than fact.
In “Conspiracy Theory” the claim is that secret government forces will unleash a pandemic upon the population.  When chaos ensues, martial law will be declared and millions of us will be locked up in concentration (FEMA) camps.  We, who understand HBD and recognize the dangers of ethnic diversity, appreciate that such “chaos” would probably take the form of societal fractures along ethnic lines.  Hence, divide and conquer would be an important tactic of this cabal.  If there is substance to the above conspiracy theory, then theorists such as Ventura and Jones would do well to understand how HBD and diversity fit into it; those doing the conspiring certainly do.
If there is a small cabal of immensely powerful people conspiring to seize control over the entire planet, I doubt that they are driven by ideological motivations.  I would not expect them to be “leftists” or to subscribe to any particular creed or religion – except insofar as they worship themselves.
The tactic of divide and conquer is more effective when the divisions, within the populace, are more or less equal.  This insures that the struggle can continue indefinitely, thus enabling those with real power to work behind the scenes.  From this perspective, we would not expect any such powerful cabal to work toward the total annihilation of the white race.  Instead, their goal would be to reduce whites to the status of just one of many ethnic groups vying for control.
If this is, indeed, the case then the powers that be may actually want some sort of white nationalist movement to take root; if whites simply shrivel up and die every time they’re confronted with a challenge to their hegemony, there would not be much of a struggle, would there?
In such a scenario, it would be up to whites to foil the evil plans of such a cabal.  Ventura does have one very conspicuous young black woman in his group.  Most likely, this is by design and not by chance; every other person involved with Ventura and Jones (at least those we can see) is white.  Given their racial ignorance, in all likelihood, they have put forth considerable efforts in outreach programs toward “people of color”.  Apparently, their efforts have amounted to naught – or very close to naught.
At one point, in the movie linked to above, Ventura accuses FEMA of targeting “African Americans” among others.  Likewise, in his paper “FEMA – The Secret Government“, Harry Martin even goes so far as to say:

The first targets in any FEMA emergency would be Hispanics and Blacks, the FEMA orders call for them to be rounded up and detained. Tax protesters, demonstrators against government military intervention outside U.S. borders, and people who maintain weapons in their homes are also targets. Operation Trojan Horse is a program designed to learn the identity of potential opponents to martial law. The program lures potential protesters into public forums, conducted by a “hero” of the people who advocates survival training. The list of names gathered at such meetings and rallies are computerized and then targeted in case of an emergency.

Obviously, things will not actually unfold like that, even if there is a kernel of truth to the theory as a whole.  Hispanics and blacks are certainly not the target of any sort of government conspiracy; they are the ones who most want big government.  They are the grunts who are being used as a club to destroy the last vestiges of America.  If there were any evidence of such a plan, the mainstream media would be all over it.  Instead, these are clearly attempts to recruit NAM’s (and the whites who worship them) to the anti-conspiracy cause.
In “Conspiracy Theory”, the story is told about a young woman from Missouri who was placed on a government watch list simply for campaigning for Ron Paul.  Harassment by organizations such as the SPLC and the ADL notwithstanding, I am not aware of any white nationalists (in America) being placed on government watch lists unless they advocate violence.  If the Federal Government wished to place bloggers like myself on such a list, it would be easy to do.  If they wished to place those who attend American Renaissance conferences on such a watch list, it would be a piece of cake.  As far as I can tell, the government is apathetic to our cause and they have no problem letting fringe leftist groups take potshots at us – but there does not seem to be any evidence of direct government intimidation (beyond refusing to defend us from aggression by others) at all.
Ask the average American which point of view is more extreme: a) support for Ron Paul or b) white nationalism.  The answer will almost always be “b”.  If the Federal Government is concerned about “extremists”, they would be targeting racialists more than Ron Paul supporters.  It would appear that the only “extremists” they are concerned about are the ones who might sabotage their agenda.  It might be that the existence of a certain number of white nationalists fits in quite well with their agenda.
Of course the truth is the truth.  So, the possibility that race realism or white-nationalism might go hand in hand with a secret plot to take over the world does not, in any way, discredit our point of view.  If, perchance, we get some sort of boost from the government, simple-minded people might view this as a blow to our credibility.  Other simple-minded people might point to this post and claim that I am trying to undermine the white cause.
If the future brings some sort of support from government, let us remember that they are not our friends.  Let us also remember that such support does nothing to discredit our cause.

Extreme miscegenation

We are all familiar with the typical miscegenation scenario, where a big-boned white woman, who lacks self-esteem, gives in to the advances of a low I.Q. black man intent on acquiring a white trophy wife.  But the following case takes on a curious twist: this black man likes his woman to be as fat as possible – and she is happy to oblige him!  Thanks to Human Stupidity blog for linking to this video – which has since been removed by YouTube. Sorry.
I wonder how they flew her in to appear on the show.  Did they seat her in the middle of the isle so that the plane would not tip over to one side?  Or perhaps they brought her in using a special truck – with an “oversize load” sign on the back.
But in all seriousness, I know many white men are not bothered by such women betraying their own race.  Yet she did not start out this way; she has a mental illness and, if not for that illness, she could have made a fine wife for a white man.

Murky reasoning by The Mercury

The Portland area has more than its share of leftist/wrongist rags.  Each of them does its part to “keep Portland weird”.  One of them, which is free for the taking all over town, is called “The Portland Mercury”.
The most recent edition compares two cases of what could loosely be called “terrorism” and poses a good question:

While the 19-year-old accused of plotting to bomb Pioneer Courthouse Square waits for his trial to begin, a second, much lower-profile politically motivated bombing case heard its closing arguments in an Oregon court this week.  The case of father and son Bruce and Joshua Turnidge bears several similarities with Mohamed Osman Mahamud’s… except that no one is using the word “terrorism.”
Bruce and Joshua Turnidge are facing aggravated murder charges for allegedly building a bomb and planting it at a bank in Woodburn, Oregon, in 2008, just after President Barack Obama’s election.
Unlike in Mohamud’s case, the Turnidges are accused of actually building and detonating a real bomb and taking real lives: The blast killed two police officers, took the leg of another, and injured a bank employee.  Like Mohamud’s case, the prosecutors are focusing on the Turnidges’ politics as a motivating factor behind the bombing, noting in the trial that Bruce Turnidge’s house was filled with weapons and that when FBI agents stopped by his house post-bombing, Turnidge called Obama a racial slur and said that “every ballot should come with a bullet.”
Family friends testified as state witnesses that Joshua expressed hatred of police and that Bruce had tried to organize an anti-government militia…

The article goes on to cite the SPLC (as if it is a reliable source) that right-wing home-grown terrorist groups are the fastest growing type of terrorist group.  It asks why it is that the Turnidges are being charged with aggravated murder rather than terrorism.  To its credit, The Mercury considers the fact that the officers killed were local and it is a matter of jurisdiction.  Of course, they could not hold themselves back from asking whether race might have played a role.  Mohamud is black (Somali) while the Turnidges are white:

“Could there be other reasons for the difference in treatment?” writes Parry, “Sure.  It could be race, it could be a sense that home-grown right-wing terrorism is not as serious or at least not part of a wider conspiracy.”

I’ll go with the original explanation: that local officers were killed and, therefore, it is a matter of jurisdiction.  As for home-grown, right-wing terrorism, I truly do not believe it is as serious as Islamic terrorism.  It should be obvious that the Turnidges (if guilty of the charges against them) are not representative of the “right wing”, but rather of ruthless indiscriminate killers.  This being said, if real home-grown, right-wing militias were to somehow get their wish and gain power, what we would end up with would be an earlier version of America.  However, if Islamic radicals were to somehow get their wish and gain power, America would be dead and gone.
That The Mercury seriously considers race as a possible explanation, only shows that they will never miss an opportunity to sell their racial paradigm.

Ancient Ugaritic hymn

Salim Khalaf, in his site on Phoenicia, links to an Ugaritic hymn reconstructed by Dr. Anne Kilmer.  The hymn is 3,400 years old, so do not expect it to sound anything like the “greatest hits of 2010”.  Click here to listen to it.  This is a subject of great fascination for me.  It is probably the closest we shall ever get to anything resembling ancient Jewish music, such as the psalms.
What I would truly enjoy is to add vocals to the music – in Ugaritic or ancient Hebrew.  Since I have been told that my singing capabilities are not the best, I think a better solution would be to have a native Arabic or Jewish Yemeni singer trained to sing the lyrics as accurately as possible.  My guess is that no Muslim or Jewish singer would sing a hymn to either Yarikh (the moon god) or his wife Nikkal, so he would probably have to be secular or we could simply use Biblical sources for the lyrics.
So, if anybody reading this knows of such a singer willing to do this, please let me know.  We would also need somebody who can handle the software portion of this project.  Until, and unless, all this comes together, this project will remain but a fantasy.
