AUTHENTIC HISTORY KU KLUX KLAN, 1865-1877 Part One

Diversity Chronicle sent me a link to the PDF version of Authentic History Ku Klux Klan, 1865-1877. It was written by Susan Lawrence Davis, who came from an old Ku Klux Klan family, and recalled playing chess with Nathan Bedford Forrest, first grand wizard of the original Klan, upon whose death in 1877, the Klan disbanded.

Due to the length of the book, and of my review, I’ve decided to break it up into several posts.

The book is clearly biased in favor of the Ku Klux Klan, and the South in general, but I’m inclined to believe several of its most basic claims. For example:

a) That imposters would frequently masquerade as Klansmen and commit atrocities in order to sully its name. I believe this because similar tactics are used today, and because it makes a lot of sense within the context of the day; such a tactic would be effective in inciting anti-white Southerner hatred among local blacks, and among Northern whites.

b) That the crimes, committed by the Republicans against the South during Reconstruction, actually happened. I believe this because the political heirs to the Republican radicals of Reconstruction, today’s Democrats, commit similar crimes.

c) That Southerners were justified in forming the Ku Klux Klan (even though it was initially formed as a joke, and only later took on political meaning), and that the Ku Klux Klan was necessary to restore the rule of law, to present a united front against widespread injustice, and to remove certain corrupt politicians from power. I believe that many, if not most, of its members were honorable men with honorable intentions. I say this because we see similar circumstances in our own time, and a similar organization might soon be necessary for the protection of innocent lives and the execution of justice.

d) That the Original Ku Klux Klan was not, in principle, opposed to Jews, Catholics or any other demographic. I believe this because today’s equivalent of the Ku Klux Klan (IE. people like myself and most of my readers) are also falsely accused of ignorant bigotry.

The book was published in 1924, when racial-egalitarianism had not yet taken hold. Therefore, I’m not inclined to view it as a form of apologetics, where the author is attempting to justify outdated attitudes in the eyes of modern readers. Rather, she appears to be faithfully conveying the attitudes of Southern whites during reconstruction, and shortly thereafter… with the possible exception of slavery itself, which the book barely addresses.

Mrs. Davis mentions “white supremacy” many times throughout the book, for example (pg. vi of the preface):

I realize that the period covering reconstruction and reestablishing white supremacy in the States which seceded from the United States in 1861 is a “sleeping volcano and a Vesuvius at rest,”

and (pg. 37):

At this meeting at “The Cove” they discussed “white supremacy” and decided they would make it the chief business of the Ku Klux Klan.

I think it’s important to understand what is meant by “white supremacy” in this book, especially considering the fact that it was one of the primary goals of the Ku Klux Klan.

Mrs. Davis does not actually explain it, probably because the meaning was considered self-evident to most of her contemporaries. However, I’ll impart to my readers my own understanding of this phrase.

The book makes it abundantly clear that there was never any intention to perpetrate a genocide upon Southern blacks, or to commit any random acts of violence against them, and I’ll go into racial attitudes in a later post. The Ku Klux Klan wanted to maintain a system where all Southerners, white and black, could benefit from the rule of law. At the same time, it was determined to maintain a white-dominated political system, and ensure that miscegenation would never take place.

Just as there was “white supremacy” in the South, so too was there “negro supremacy.” This is brought up a couple of times. For example (pg. 56):

but they saw nothing but a perpetuation of negro supremacy in Alabama, should Republican leaders be allowed there.

When we look at today’s American cities, which exist under “negro supremacy,” a pattern emerges. Chicago, Baltimore, New Orleans, East St. Louis and Philadelphia all have certain traits in common – and those are exactly the conditions that the Ku Klux Klan opposed. This is the “negro supremacy” Southerners of the Reconstruction suffered under, and that they sought to replace with “white supremacy.”

The book makes it abundantly clear that the negro was, under no circumstances, to be considered equal to the white man, and we cannot reconcile the view of this book with current dominant views, but we can adopt the Establishment Left’s definition of “supremacy” to bridge the gap – if we want to be creative.

When blacks earn less, on average, than whites, we’re told that it’s because of “white-supremacy.” When blacks are incarcerated at higher rates than whites, we’re told that it’s because of “white-supremacy.” When black academic achievement lags behind that of whites, we’re told that this is because of “white-supremacy.” Very well then. We have “white-supremacy” now, and we’re aware that this state of affairs is actually due to biological differences; there’s actually nothing to complain about, since this is the way things are supposed to be – and this is what the Ku Klux Klan wanted, and a bit more, of course. To the extent that we have a meritocracy, it is “white-supremacy.” A state of “equity” where progressives are satisfied can never be achieved. Therefore, “white-supremacy” is the natural order. Opposition to this, by forcing “negro-supremacy,” can only be done through tyranny.

… and tyranny was exactly what the South endured during Reconstruction. Had this not been the case, the Ku Klux Klan would never have arisen. Following are the grievances that led to the formation of the Ku Klux Klan and its popularity:

Forced racial integration of schools:

Another necessity for regulation by the Ku Klux Klan at Athens grew out of the rumor that the military authorities controlling Alabama, had determined to force the white citizens of Athens to send their children to a school which had been opened in the Baptist Church for the negroes, and was being taught by the above-mentioned white woman, who advocated social equality of the races, and who had said that the white children would be forced by bayonet rule to attend this school (pg. 38 and39).

Out of control black crime:

So once more, necessity which knows no law led to correcting one of the worst habits of the restless negroes who had been freed and had the idea that freedom meant license. Many of the older negroes were using their judgment and trying to assist in every way, the white people, to control the younger negroes who were a menace to all communities by their petty depredations and irresponsibility, though they were often led by mean white men whose own lawless deeds they hoped might be credited to the negroes (pg. 40).

The murder of Mr. Tanner and other outrages by the negro soldiers was the means of strengthening the Ku Klux Klan in their determination to press on
towards some form of relief from such outrages, and caused the augmenting of their numbers by many thousands (pg. 43).

Unfair, and ruinous, taxation:

Many people in the South who were the victims of this tyranny “taxation without representation” still hope that the United States Government will yet refund this illegal tax.

Fifty million dollars worth of cotton was shipped to Simeon Draper, and the United States government only got fifteen million of it. Thus the Southern people were impoverished and their property turned over to these unscrupulous scoundrels.

One duty of the Ku Klux Klan for many years was to build gins in the dense forests, haul the cotton there, gin it, hide it and guard it. Had it not been for the Ku Klux Klan who saved what cotton they could secretly, the people would have died of starvation (pg. 54).

It was said that the radical government had resorted to a rate of taxation under which the people suffered and every branch of industry was crippled. These taxes were not determined by the owners but by a very incompetent body. The election frauds were a matter of grave concern and depended upon the skill of a board of canvassers who would count into office any radicals that they wished. From the period of 1868 to 1877 was only record of extravagance and corruption. Crime had gone unpunished, no schools or public buildings had been built since before the war, and yet millions of money had been extorted from the people by these extravagant “carpet-baggers (pg. 280).”

Interference with freedom of religion:

Many things had happened previous to these parades which had aroused the entire south and caused bitterness and resentment such as had never been engendered by the War, and the people felt that the Ku Klux Klan was a serious organization and that their power would be invaluable to them in correcting these conditions.

The most important of these unjust acts was the interference of the general government with public worship in the State of Alabama. This had been a subject of great excitement and controversy since June 1865, when the Right Rev. Richard Hooker Wilmer, Bishop of Alabama, in a letter to the clergy and laity issued his famous pastoral circular which is quoted in General Order No. 38, the Order which struck at the foundation of religious liberty by the United States Government (pg. 98).

“It is therefore ordered, pursuant to the instructions of Major General Thomas, commanding military Division of Tennessee, that said Richard Wilmer, Bishop of the Protestant Episcopal Church of the Diocese of Alabama, and the Protestant Episcopal clergy of said diocese, be, and they are hereby forbidden to preach or perform divine service, and that their places of worship be closed until such a time as said Bishop and clergy show a sincere return to their allegiance to the Government of the United States, and give evidence of a loyal and patriotic spirit by offering to resume the use of the prayer for the President of the United States and all in civil authority, and by taking the amnesty oath prescribed by the President.

“This prohibition shall continue in each individual case until special application is made through the military channels of these headquarters for permission to preach and perform divine service, and until such application is approved at these or superior headquarters.

“District commanders are required to see that this order is carried into effect.

“By order of Major General Charles R. Wood.”Fred H. Wilson, A.A.G.” (pg. 101 and 102)

The consensus of opinion of all the most influential Ku Klux whom I have interviewed, was, that had not the Churches of the South, in their separation… been interfered with in their worship, and bitterly criticized by the Northern branch from which they had severed themselves, there would not have been such strength developed in the Ku Klux Klan… (pg. 104).

The passing of the Alien and Sedition Act, and the Anti-Ku Klux statute:

This unconstitutional legislation began in 1865, in the passage of the Alien and Sedition Act, and culminated in the passage of the Anti-Ku Klux statute in 1868, a statute directed against any secret organization, disguised or otherwise. This statute was unconstitutional, anarchistic and was one of the chief reasons for the spread of the Ku Klux Klan, as it aimed at the very life and liberty of the people of the South (pg. 110).

General persecution of white Southerners, and a refusal to promptly allow the Southern states back into the Union, with all the accompanying rights:

The Ku Klux Klan was not organized for political purposes as some unfair Northern writers contend to this day, but it was driven into this role by the persecution of the Southern people by the Republican party in power, which misrepresented conditions in the South (pg. 139).

The history of the country from 1865 to 1877 will show positively that the Ku Klux Klan restored these states to the Union when the United States Government intended to keep them out…

The chief executive of the United States had recognized the government of seceding states as legal and many of the men engaged in the war received executive pardon, but Congress ignored all of these facts and proceeded to dissolve the Union. Every form of deviltry that the mind of man could conceive was invented and charged against the people and it is well to note that as this injustice increased the organization known as the Ku Klux Klan rose in power (pg. 215).

Encouraging Southern blacks to commit hostilities against whites, and sowing distrust between the populations:

The Freedmen’s Bureau established in Georgia began to sow seeds of mistrust between the negroes and their former owners and this accounts for the hostility which ensued between the races and made the organization of the Ku Klux Klan a necessity and led that state to become one of the “Solid South” against the Republican party (pg. 222).

The denial of suffrage to Southern whites:

“But to say to our people, ‘You are unworthy to vote ; you cannot hold office ; we are unwilling to trust you; you are not honest men; your former slaves are better fitted to administer the laws than you are’ — this sort of dealing with our people has emphatically alienated us (pg. 224).

The unnecessary imposition of martial law, and acts of violence against Southern whites, while refusing to punish said criminals:

the governor upon the flimsiest pretext declared martial law in many of the counties in the state. Negro militia marched and maurauded and murdered at will through these counties.

The legislature passed at this time an amnesty act forbidding the punishment of any of the murders or outrages committed by this negro militia. It protected a multitude of wanton crimes. In the face of these outrages what was there then about the republican party as our people know it to commend it to self-respecting, patriotic men of the South? Surely, after reading these facts it will not be hard for our fair-thinking fellow citizens of the North to account for the solidity of the south and the organization of the Ku Klux Klan… (pg. 270 and 271).

Excessive government spending and corruption:

The Governor who was inaugurated was General R. K. Scott from Ohio, and was one of the agents of the Freedmen’s Bureau in the State and they began the reconstruction of South Carolina. Their first act was to refurnish the halls of legislation in the State House, replacing chairs that cost one dollar with crimson plush gothic chairs, for four-dollar benches, two-hundred dollar crimson plush sofas.

The whole finishings cost $50,000, but they appropriated $95,000 to pay the bill for sundries, supplies and such debts. $350,000 were appropriated, thus the State was plunged into needless debt by these unprincipled men.

During this time a threat was made to impeach Governor Scott, and he paid Speaker Moses $10,000 for his rulings against it. During the six years 1868-1874 Scott was the governor, F. J. Moses was the Speaker of the House of Representatives, whose chief mode of plundering the state was to issue illegal pay certificates and this was known as the “Legislative Ring.”

There were ten messengers employed and he issued one hundred and forty certificates one session. He issued this session $1,168,225 worth of certificates, all of which except $200,000 was robbery of the State. Yet this F. J. Moses, Jr., was elected to succeed Scott and the robbery continued.

As Speaker of the House of Representatives, the debt of the State had increased from $5,407,306 to $18,515,000. The taxpayers of the State had no voice in legislation and were reduced to trying some form of relief (pg. 297 and 298).

Election fraud:

The national election depended on the vote of Louisiana in 1876 and therefore the whole country watched it with great interest and the methods of the Returning Board became known throughout the country and the people learned that the entire election machinery was in the hands of adventurous “carpet-baggers.” There had been ballot box stuffing, falsification of returns and other crimes were clearly shown but this did not impress the government at Washington sufficiently to see the legally elected officers seated. The democrats had carried the state by 8000 majority but when the Returning Board got through with its work it had made a 9000 republican majority (pg. 305).

Most of these tactics continue to be used today. If we copied and pasted some of them into a news report of current events, nobody would notice anything amiss.

Retired Cop Murdered in Knockout Game Attack

From the New York Post:

Thomas Driscoll, a 22-year veteran of the Connecticut State Police, died early Sunday from head and neck injuries after being attacked by a stranger who police say followed the ex-cop and a woman on a pedestrian bridge on the Las Vegas Strip, police said.

An arrest report obtained by the Las Vegas Review-Journal indicates Driscoll, 57, was on a walkway near Bally’s with a woman when they passed a group of men.

One man in the group, identified by cops as Brandon Leath, 33, made a remark about Driscoll and the woman walking through them, prompting Leath to run up on the pair and then wait for the retired cop at the bottom of an escalator, police said.

“Leath set down his backpack and took a fighting stance,” the arrest report stated.

Leath allegedly punched Driscoll, sending the retired cop to the ground. Driscoll was later pronounced dead at a hospital and a coroner ruled his death a homicide.

The victim:

The perpetrator:

Not surprisingly, there is no mention of any hate-crime charges being considered.

Let this be a warning to white people: When you see a group of black males in your path, don’t walk through them; instead, cross the street and stay away from them.

Racists Have Larger Dongs Scientists Say

Ladies who value a large man-package might consider mining the SPLC’s Hatewatch list for potential partners.

Yes, it’s true! Racists have larger peckers. Some ladies already instinctively know this, as Glamour points out:

Help, I Can’t Stop Hooking Up With Trump Supporters

When someone asks about my worst hookup, I have plenty of options to choose from, but I inevitably end up telling the same story. It’s the one where I started arguing with a Trump supporter at a bar and then before I knew it, I was waking up the next morning in his bedroom. There were flags everywhere: Ronald Reagan’s face was emblazoned on one of them, “Don’t Tread On Me” made an appearance on another. I say it was the “worst” not because the sex was bad, but because, well, see above…

Plus, in an odd way, sleeping with Trump supporters reaffirms my own political and personal values. I don’t think I could ever have a serious relationship with a one—I can’t be with someone who won’t understand why the news sometimes causes me to burst into tears, or why I want to throw my phone across the room after reading the President’s latest tweet. For me, differing political ideologies are a deal breaker. But that only makes me more OK with accepting these flings for what they are: Opportunities for excellent hate-sex. And to be able to walk away unbothered, unburdened, and sexually satisfied makes me feel powerful at a time when many people with my liberal leanings have never felt less in control.

Some might consider this a classic example of erection fraud, but it’s obvious to me that this phenomenon is closely related to rape fantasies; some women enjoy being dominated, conquered if you will.

It’s been pointed out that muscular, macho, men tend toward conservatism. A Salon article states that:

Researchers from Denmark’s Aarhus University found that the more upper body strength a wealthy man has, the more likely he is to support conservative, self-interested economic and social policies…

The link between upper body strength and testosterone levels is well-known. Likewise, a link between testosterone levels (at least in the womb) and penis-size has been shown.

So soy-boys move over; your very existence is insulting to ladies. Ladies need real men – and real men are racist. The sooner we all accept this, the better.

Michigan Professor Sparks Outrage – for Complaining about Racism

When is complaining about racism considered racism? When the victim in question is a white male. From The New York Post:

A Michigan professor has sparked a firestorm after demanding an apology for his university’s new anti-racism policies — insisting that he has been “systematically discriminated against for 40 years” as a white man…

He requested “an apology for the racist sentiments expressed” in the resolutions that “contribute to a hostile work environment,” saying they implied that “white people and local people are racist.”

“I find this resolution particularly offensive because I, as a white male, have been systematically discriminated against for 40 years,” Burl wrote in the letter widely shared among students that sparked a petition demanding he be fired for his “ignorance and hate.”

The associate professor of electrical and computer engineering insisted that during his 28 years at the university in Houghton, he saw no “discrimination against women and people of color” while the college “actively discriminated against white males.”

“Discrimination in hiring, discrimination in grant allocation, discrimination in advancement, etc.,” he wrote.

As if on cue, professor Jeffrey Burl faced retribution for daring to bring attention to the reality that many white men have experienced for several decades:

As well as complaints online by students, a Change.org petition called for him to be terminated — although as of Tuesday morning, it was still almost 1,000 short of its goal of 2,500 signatures.

It was started by Timothy Ward, a former Michigan Tech student who later also taught there, who said he was “offended” by the “racist views and ignorant statements” in the letter.

“I felt gross just trying to read it. I can only imagine how his students will feel going forward having to sit in lectures for hours with him,” the petition stated.

“This kind of ignorance and hate does not belong at Michigan Tech nor any institution of higher learning. This petition is calling for his immediate termination,” it stated.

It’s only natural that some of the students would be offended, and “feel gross.” After all, they’ve been raised on a steady diet of anti-white propaganda their whole lives. In my previous post, I pointed out how even a little bit of exposure to television can warp our minds. Here we’re dealing with years of intense indoctrination. The only possible outcome is that the subjects would recoil at any sentiment that contradicts what they’ve been conditioned to believe.

This is true even with an individual, but when the subjects number in the thousands, an added dimension comes into play: Mob mentality. This is a modern-day lynch mob. I hope that Professor Burl survives this intact. If history is any lesson, he’ll apologize profusely, and grovel. After he’s lost all dignity, he’ll be forced to resign anyway.

Here’s the email I sent the professor:

Dear Professor Burl,

You don’t know me, but I read about your current situation, and I wanted to give you my moral support. You’re doing the right thing, and many people wish the best for you.

Please do not apologize, and please do not grovel before your enemies. Stand strong!

Update: The professor replied to thank me.

This is What One Drop of Television Does to Your Brain

I had a dream last night. In my dream a friendly coyote befriended me. He was an exceptionally smart coyote, and he accompanied me on various adventures. Toward the end of the dream, I decided to give him a name, and the name I came up with was Riley.

When I woke up, I realized why my dreaming self had named the coyote Riley, and why “Riley Coyote” had such a nice ring to it: It was based on the cartoon character Wile E. Coyote, who was invented in 1948, and would have been featured in cartoons when I was growing up.

I have no recollection of seeing this character at any time over the past few decades; as far as I know, the last time I saw him was as a child – and yet he appeared in my dream subliminally.

I’m reminded of how impressionable we are, and how easy it is to have our minds manipulated. If you watched television for five minutes, decades ago as a child, that’s enough to render your most intimate dreams “Property of XYZ Corporation.” I suspect that viewing a scene on television has more of an impact on the human brain than seeing it in real life. This might be due to the way it’s highlighted and framed. In real life, we see everything in context, so details tend to be watered down. But television removes, or manipulates, that context so that the featured detail has much more significance.

In the past, I’ve written about how Mediagov emphasizes black male/ white female couples as a form of social engineering. My ideological enemies fail to comprehend this. Perhaps it would be too painful for them to acknowledge that their minds are corporate-owned.

Wouldn’t it be nice if there were a way to cleanse our minds of television poison?

We are All Flat-Earthers

Everybody needs somebody to ridicule so that they can feel superior, and Flat-Earthers are definitely near the bottom of the pecking order.

But I’ve always held some admiration for this group. It’s not that I believe their theories have merit. What I admire about them is their willingness to challenge Orthodoxy, to question some of the most cherished pillars of science, and even go public about it. This takes a certain amount of open-mindedness and courage. We can respect these traits, while at the same time rejecting their actual beliefs.

I’d like to share this excellent YouTube video by Sabine Hossenfelder:

In a nutshell, she points out that the root of Flat-Earthism is skepticism of establishment science, and a need to verify things first-hand.

If this sounds familiar, it’s because many of us share the same attitude. We’ve been confronted with establishment “science” dishonesty over and over again. People with impressive degrees and titles abuse their influence to push a false racial narrative upon an unsuspecting public.

Scientists can only lie so many times before they lose credibility altogether. The same applies to the Corporate Media. If we can’t trust scientists, and we can’t trust the Media, then who CAN we trust? We can only trust our own senses, and we can only act upon our own conclusions.

The problem is that, even among truth-seekers, a large proportion will be of below average intelligence – and even those of exceptional intelligence cannot possibly gain enough expertise to outwit the experts all the time.

Modern civilization is built upon specialization, because smart as we are, nobody can master all fields; the age of the Renaissance Man is past. Entire libraries exist solely for highly specialized fields, many of which the average layman doesn’t even know exist.

We can challenge the experts in fields such as geography, cosmology, philosophy and linguistics, and survive intact. Nobody has died because he believed the Earth is perched upon a giant turtle.

But we venture into trickier territory when it comes to medicine, law or practical science such as chemistry or electronics. As stated, even truth-seekers can be of lower intelligence – or perhaps they simply lack common sense.

Imagine a classroom where an instructor teaches the children things that are obviously false. For hours, he lectures them about the ants that built the school, how it’s sunny outside, when it’s clearly overcast, about some of the students actually being aliens, and that they are standing, when they are actually sitting. At some point, after the students have figured out that the instructor is not to be taken seriously, they are told that it’s dangerous to insert metal forks into the electrical outlets.

Would we judge the parents harshly if, after some of the children are electrocuted, they administer street justice to said instructor?

This is the situation we have today. The Media cannot be trusted, and neither can our scientists. It should come as no surprise that, at times like these, crazy conspiracy theories abound… but don’t blame the theorists; blame those whose responsibility it was to carry the torch of Truth, but have chosen to replace it with the Torch of Dogma.

Boston Public Schools Suspend Advanced Classes

From GBH News:

Citing Racial Inequities, Boston Public Schools Suspend New Advanced Learning Classes

A selective program for high-performing fourth, fifth and sixth graders in Boston has suspended enrollment due to the pandemic and concerns about equity in the program, GBH News has learned.

Superintendent Brenda Cassellius recommended the one-year hiatus for the program, known as Advanced Work Classes, saying the district would not proceed with the program for new students next year.

“There’s been a lot of inequities that have been brought to the light in the pandemic that we have to address,” Cassellius told GBH News. “There’s a lot of work we have to do in the district to be antiracist and have policies where all of our students have a fair shot at an equitable and excellent education.”

A district analysis of the program found that more than 70 percent of students enrolled in the program were white and Asian, even though nearly 80 percent of all Boston public school students are Hispanic and Black.

School Committee member Lorna Rivera said at a January meeting that she was disturbed by the findings, noting that nearly 60 percent of fourth graders in the program at the Ohrenberger school in West Roxbury are white even though most third graders enrolled at the school are Black and Hispanic.

“This is just not acceptable,” Rivera said at a recent school committee meeting. “I’ve never heard these statistics before, and I’m very very disturbed by them.”

The program was open to all students in the Boston Public Schools who took a test known as Terra Nova in the third grade and received a high score. Those students were placed in a lottery conducted by the central administration office, and lottery winners received letters inviting them to apply to the program. Last fall, 453 students received invitations, 143 students applied and 116 enrolled this year, officials said.

These are our future doctors, lawyers and scientists. Thanks to race-denialism, these professionals will be a notch or two lower in quality than they otherwise would have been. The result is inevitable: Our health, justice system and science will be stunted.

Unfortunately, nobody will be able to quantify this effect, and anybody attempting to do so will be stigmatized. Are there any studies on increased morbidity due to Affirmative Action doctors? Of course not; those lives don’t matter.

“Be Less White” the Song

Here’s a nice song from Buddy Brown:

If you look at the comments, you’ll see one from Karlyn Borysenko. She says she’s the one who first published the story. This might be the case, as she’s got a popular “Walk Away” YouTube channel of her own.

This is an opportunity. Please visit the video from Buddy Brown, and comment that “It’s Okay to be White.”

United Arab Emirates’ Mission to Mars

The United Arab Emirates has sent a probe to Mars. This is the first time any Arab country has sent a spacecraft to another planet. The probe is named The Hope (الأمل), and I think the name is appropriate. After all, their first attempt at reaching Mars was not successful; Burj Khalifa turned out to be not tall enough to reach the Red Planet. I’m told it’s still worth visiting for the nice view.

This is a huge prestige boost for the coalition of kingdoms, but more importantly, will the probe find oil on Mars?

On a more serious note, within living memory, UAE was little more than a collection of fishing villages. According to The Gazelle:

Before the discovery of oil, Emiratis had to rely upon trade to sustain themselves. Hence, while the UAE today may seem radically different from its past, many aspects have remained the same.

For much of the UAE’s pre-oil history, the environment was the most important factor. The harshness of the desert, which covers 80 percent of the country, dictated traditional lifestyles. One response was living a nomadic lifestyle, and was carried out by those living in the interior of the country. Despite this, oases allowed for some settled agriculture such as in Liwa. The more mountainous northern Emirates encouraged somewhat different ways of surviving as occasional rain flooded wadis and groundwater was more accessible. The mountains also had a strategic aspect as their rugged nature protected their inhabitants from invasion.

The third major environmental area was the coast. Although the desert extends all the way to the waters of the Arabian Gulf, the coast was important as it allowed the UAE to trade and connect with other nations in the region. Water was still a priority and so sources were closely guarded. Qasr al Hosn, the fort in Abu Dhabi, was built around the only freshwater source in Abu Dhabi and was designed to control access to this source. Further north, water was found due to runoff from the Al Hajar mountain range, which caused the underlying water table to be closer to the surface, making wells possible. Thus, the cities that we know now began to be built along the Arabian Gulf.

It appears that life in the Emirates was essentially unchanged from ancient times until the 1950s, when oil was discovered. Then, all of a sudden, the ruling class and elites became exceedingly wealthy. Luckily for them, this wealth wasn’t as ephemeral as in other, less fortunate, countries.

How do traditional tribes react when riches are suddenly thrust into their laps? In some cases, it’s not much different from how individuals react when they suddenly win the jackpot; the wealth is squandered, and the poor soul ends up worse than he was before.

There can be little doubt that the Emiratis did squander much of their wealth, and that there has been corruption. It wasn’t until the 1960s and 1970s that slavery was abolished in the UAE – so it should be no surprise that this mentality lives on. Much has been written about the poor conditions migrant workers face in the UAE, but it seems to me that if it were as horrific as portrayed, then the migrants would cease coming. I don’t know; perhaps when I visit, I’ll gain more insights.

The treatment of women is another sore point. A missing princess has made headlines, and wife beating is a gray area in UAE law.

I don’t think we should expect the UAE to have the same human rights standards as Western countries, nor do I think this is desirable. Everything is a continuum, and anything can become a slippery slope. I don’t think there can be a situation where everybody has equal rights and privileges, and if we must choose between a state run by women, or a state run by men, I’d choose the latter.

The Emiratis have made huge strides in the right direction. They now have peace with Israel, they’ve been diversifying their economy, and they’ve transformed a collection of sleepy fishing villages into a major international business hub.

They’ve done all this without casting aside their time-honored traditions:

The Mars probe team of today:

In case, you’re wondering, the actual launch took place in Japan, and I think we can safely assume that Western expertise was involved. Still, I congratulate them, and I hope they find oil.

A couple of questions that need clarification: Can camels survive on Mars? Can the dishdasha be modified into a space suit?

Qatar’s Al Jazeera Launches Right-Wing News Platform For Americans “Who Feel Left Out” Of MSM

This is smart. You know how much money these people will make doing this? (Yes, I believe in making money) I really feel grateful to the Qatari’s. It’s sad and disgusting that we have to look OUTSIDE of our own nation for news sources and platforms but Commie’s gotta Commie here in AmeriKa.

Read the rest here.

This goes hand in hand with the Chinese recently inviting “old white guys” to work in China. From Reuters:

Breakingviews – China Inc will recycle used white guys

NEW YORK (Reuters Breakingviews) – American company men may find a savior in China Inc. As corporations try to make their ranks more ethnically representative, many experienced – if white and older – males will find themselves without a job. Chinese companies, deterred from acquiring U.S. firms with valuable intellectual property, can recruit their discarded human capital instead.

Some of the largest U.S. companies are moving quickly to rebalance their headcount. At Apple, for example, women made up 38% of workers under 30 in 2018 versus just 31% four years earlier. The share of under-represented minorities in that group rose 10 percentage points to 35%. Meantime the employment-to-population ratio of white men fell from 76% in 1972 to 67% in 2018.

The coming year should be a banner one for diversity. California has rolled out quotas for boards; Nasdaq is considering requirements for listings. Companies from Wells Fargo to Google to Delta Air Lines have diversity hiring goals in place.

The goal is to reach new customers and positively transform corporate cultures. In the immediate term that may translate into net layoffs of older, more expensive, Caucasian men.

Some of those hitting the streets, resumé in hand, will have value for the right employer. Economic research firm Sonecon put the price of intellectual capital of U.S. companies at $9.2 trillion in 2011. Acquiring that by buying companies will be difficult under President-elect Joe Biden, who is expected to continue the crackdown on Chinese acquisitions. Poaching talent is easier and, in some cases, may be more efficient.

Should white men, who have been betrayed by their own countries, seek their fortunes elsewhere? I think they should at least consider it. What do you think?
